I put this in the 'cats' thread but thought it would be useful here too.
I needed a small Acro to hold the cat flap tunnel up while the morter set but had nothing that would fit so I made this...

Years ago my mate did that .. one evening he came home to find half a dozen flea ridden cats in his house and cat pee territory markings everywhere . So he changed the inside to an expensive posh Staywell cat flap , within weeks he found loads more flea ridden cats back in his house. Which really bugged him as the posh flap needed the right inductor on his cat's collar to let it open or close in either direction when set to in / out. or both ways .

The next Sunday I took up watch with bino's from my house which was at right angles to his house back area to see what was happening ..

Easy , as soon as his cat approached the flap with his inductor on several other cats followed on in nose to anus almost , so the flap never got time to close properly .

Today I made a start on a trolley for the transtig,

started with this, ex hospital equipment trolly gifted from a friend and the cutting commenced


It was 480mm wide so a strip out the middle to reduceto 320mm ish and the tacked back together


thats when the bother started cracked the valve on the hobbyweld and it'virtuall empty not a happy bunny valve was shut tight yet it had lost the best part of 10ltr bottle ,I'll be taking up with hobby weld monday but I think I'll be peeing up a tree.
so that's was it for this afternoon.

I've had that happen three times on Hobbyweld argon that I'd only cracked the valve on to check for leaks . The supply hose valve from the regulator to the welder inlet was sticking and leaking so that was down to me and my new welding machine I came in for lunch and had left the cylinder valve opened . the other to times were faulty valves but like you say it's unlikely the dealer will sort it out for you .

Now I open the valve to blast it clean , then use a cylinder tightening strap to tighten it back up hard , open it again then hand turn it off and use a strong fairy wash up liquid solution to check for leaks on the valve stem and at the valve outlet hole . Then do the same soapy water check once after I've got the gauges on, have opened the valve ...., do a check , set the flow ...do a check and turned it off again & do the final check . So far it appears to have cured any possible faults That or Hobbyweld has had a modification or two done to the cylinders.

Er11 collet chuck for die grinder. No more will the small cutters pull out mid cut!
My bar was longer than needed so I made a second mini one, 13mm body. It fits in my cordless chuck but doesn't have the length for jaws to grip it, so I didnt bother to cut the taper yet.

I've just returned from visiting my SIL , big bro died four years ago . His mancupboard was stuffed to the rafters with everything .. some things he'd made, garnered or purchased related to his DIY wood working hobby in the last 35 years .

But it wasn't as cluttered with as much stuff as yours On/ Off as I was able to see three times as much wall & twice as much floor space as in your picture


The pen project is on hold.. lathe stripped down for a full bearings clean out and repack with grease then a workaround repair on the back shaft's sintered phosphor bronze bearing sleeves where the sudden squeaky noise came from after it picked up a fine turning long strand of Delrin plastic & melted it inside the bearing sleeve .

Why the face dobbslc ?

She told me to take as much as I want ... Both of us are happy bunnies .

I now have a complete Bulfinch propane tar burner wand c/w 9 foot hose & variable regulator , a small jet Bulfinch blowlamp .
A small multi metere with transistor tester inbuilt. A modern joist , live cable or metal finder which appears to be very good as it is easily adjustable best of all she said you'd best have this strimmer seeing as you struggle with your strimmer one handed .. A little used well cared for Worex 240 volt strimmer with a side running wheel to allow cutting along lawn edges
When we take here back home next week she' s already discussed what else she wants me to have .. which includes a nice 12 " H section girder some 18 inches long for an anvil , several heavy duty caravan power cables & a small variable speed Bosch router
I may end up with all Bill's good quality battery tools too as well as some 240 volt ones .. I just might be able to resurrect the battery tools with flat batteries .

Taken 3 nights, and some help from @Hood to figure out how to get my CNC lathe to actually run a pecking cycle. Turns out the section in my controller manual was totally wrong, and not just a poor translation

Normally I'd hardcode drilling cycles to maximise efficiency, but this was for a macro so I can just set the required length and the number needed. Then through the power of a macro, everything gets calculated from chucking position (I love having a bar feeder!), turning distances, drilling depth to parting position, and repeats until the required number are reached.
I just need to find some parting inserts more suitable for aluminium, and decide if a micro chamfering tool will be a worthwhile investment or not.

Just some 6082 aluminium, which I suspect isn't the best of quality, as some regular parts from the same bar didn't have that great a finish.

However the photo was taken in macro mode (the largest diameter is only 15mm) and next to a bright light, so it shows every imperfection.
The turned diameters look OK by eye, but the parting cut is definitely sub-optimal as it was done with a coated handed insert, and it was the wrong size drill bit.
Plus there's probably some greasy finger prints there from where I ran a deburring tool around the centre.

This was just the proof of concept though, and things will be tweaked more before I do a full production run.

The piggies went on a one way trip today so time to get the sausage ingredients sorted, as its that time of year one of our specials is cranberries soaked in port which make the best sausage rolls ever!

Catwalk for to go with previous posts will be on 2.5mtr legs which will be fitted on install il be making them into 2 h frames . Finish this in the morning and start the heaviest section which will hold the 2 main robots
