It was around 70p around two days ago where we are with Boiler Juice but cheaper when I ordered yesterday. Price seems to be very volatile and yes I think the price varies around the country as my family in Devon pay different rates to me

I bought 1500ltrs at 49.5, was delivered last thursday.

a lot of the online outfits, just take your order and then sub it to a local firm or depot. Its usually cheaper just togo local-in the first place.

That's painful. Last time we visited St Omer I noticed that the Auchan Hypermarket had their delivered Kero price at quite a few pence/litre more expensive than the the then current UK price.

I am pleased to say that after a 50 minute queue I have managed to get enough diesel to get the 90 up to Lincolnshire. It was breathing fumes but the pressure is off now! I wasn't panic buying I was concerned purchasing......

No problem filling up two cars at our local this morning - I made sure I was there just after 7 when they opened just in case, busy but not ridiculous - mostly royal mail vans.
Second time around 8 was busier queue out to the road. Prices weren't horrendous - they are always more expensive anyway.

I was dreading it as I've been avoiding filling up since before everything got silly - but run them both down to near empty so had to bite the bullet - should keep us going for a while now.
£30 max limit signs plastered over everything, although the pumps appear to let you put in as much as you want, but I didn't take the micky.

Bloke behind me had a boot full of jerry cans.
Lass on the till looked like she had been through hell. Felt sorry for her.

We have invested about £18K either out of our own pockets & including around 11 k in government grants ( I'm 80 % disabled ) in insulating our home . It started 14 years ago when we found we'd used three x 1200 litres of heating oil in the first year to try and keep warm . We couldn't afford eating , let alone eating out as we were burning almost every penny we had.

We were awarded a Warmer Home Grant for disabled people living in houses more then 30 years old ....to bring it up to the current level of insulation. it came from the British government through the Welsh Assembly
That gave us cavity wall insulation blown in to the cavity , a new boiler to replace the 35 yr old one and all new rad pipes & rads to replace the old poor quality ineffective 10 mm microbore pipe work system . All done by a WAG approved installer company.
They also were supposed to have put in 200 mm or roof void insulation ( they cheated on that & the whole installation , apparently and were eventually taken to court by the WAG & the bosses jailed for a massive all over South Wales fraud scheme IIRC.

That still only saved us one 800 litres of fuel oil a year @ about 39 p a litre ( Say £500 + per year )
My wife put the money aside each month and after 11 years ( & our 19 yr old daughter moving out to live with her boyfriend ) we were just about able to afford a complete replacement double glazing set up with no draughty letter box in the front door .. seeing as the interest rate was so dismal we started to do the research and found for an extra £900 we could have nitrogen filled tripple glazing which is far far superior to the normal DG windows. So we went ahead and had it installed 19 months ago just before lock downs began .
The government/ local authority surveyors also happened to be checking up on the previous grant work done & checked the state of the earlier installed roof void insulation , declared it not fit for purpose so put in the very latest German made insulation that is about twice as effective as the previous one was when it was brand new , it's also reckoned to be insulatingly good for 25 or more years .

The overall effect of the tripple glazing & latest roof void insulation has saved us well over another 1500 litres of heating oil . We filled the tank this time last year and still haven't used half of it . The heating oil cost varies mid hot summer 35 p a litre , in an eskimo freezing winter 79 per litre or more .. current price the skys the limit & it's only going to get a lot worse .

Alison is a bit of whizz at maths & finances she says our struggle has been one of the most effective things we've managed to do for ourselves in the 33 yrs we've been married as we are as heat efficient as we can be without ripping out all the floors and putting in a three foot thick insulating floor & a complete heat recover system ( which is about as high as you can get in the heat efficiency stakes. )
Yes we can now afford to eat well and go out to shows across in London etc. and dine in high end restaurants , it's far better than burning the pennies & still freezing your butt off.

The whole covid thing has also helped we've saved wasting some £ 9 K by staying home or locally for these last 18 months . Though we did go out to an authentic Indian mixed buffet restaurant in Swansea last night £ only £38.44 for the two of us including one big glass of rose for Alison.

Plus if / when we have to move over to ground source or air source heating or a even complete electricity system we will still be fit for purpose wrt our heat efficiency ( B + +) well into our final years without being in fuel poverty .

Our local fuel depot( 600 mtrs away ) allows a group of householders living fairly close to a single route to form a fuel purchase group . Here they call it being on the bank , they are automatically kept topped up four or so times a year or more if you need it ..
It appears to work well but like most schemes there are always some who bitch when it costs a penny more per litre than it did a last time they got topped up.

We sort of have that here as half of us are on oil and the rest LPG. I just said get oil NOW to the missus as I didn't want to ponce around waiting for everyone else and the price went up...

Got my bike filled up they only had super at £1.60/L. I don't mind too much because 1. I needed it and 2. Work pays for it anyway.

It has been over €1.00 in the past. I remember one fill up when it was €1.11 per litre.

Filled up at local ASDA yesterday. 12 pumps available but just one other car in the place ...1.32 litre for diesel .... great!!

Well here in Sunny South East London the local Esso/ Tesco has been without fuel for over a week.
Tomorrow I am up to York on the train to bring a car back down to the smoke, I am told by the rellies I should be fine. Fingers crossed.
