I can't see how you got distracted![]()
Just had a cold shower and back on the CAD now! Never done anything like this before, nominally A1 paper size this.

Take a photo. And measure the longest dimension.Iv made a cardboard template for a car part is there a way to convert it for plasma laser water jet cutting ? or can someone do it for me ?
Its just under 430 long and 130 wide so longer than my A4 scanner.
Thanks
Steve

Send it me. I am intrigued if my new software will do it.![]()

Do you reckon any usb microscope would work with that?My two cents worth. Sheetcam has a program called 'scanything' It is run on a computer that runs the cnc machine and using a USB microscope and scanns the pic, just like a magic eye. I have one but not yet connected as have no need of it yet. There is also a digitizing pad that you can use to generate the dxf. I have a 'gtco' and have done this before. For me it was clumsy but it was the first thing that I did. With practice it would be faster as demod on youtube. The software I have but haven't used it for several years as all my dxf's are given to me for cutting
I tried mate but it's such low quality or its designed fragmented it won't convert it anywhere near good enough. You can have a go with that pub photo if you want!
The microscope I have is a 200X B005 model from supereyes. It is a 15x speed from memory. Hope that helpsDo you reckon any usb microscope would work with that?
It does thank you. A bit spendy over here but I’ll keep my eye open. Been on plasma spider and the other option is an Xbox vision camera. Found one inc post for a fiver. The microscope I have is a 200X B005 model from supereyes. It is a 15x speed from memory. Hope that helps
@doubleboost hve you got a link to a video where you use it??The scanning camera on my xtreme table would copy that no problem
I was doing quite well with it last year, but I've dropped it for a bit and forgotten most of it. I did scan an old plastic circuit "board" from the back of my instrument panel, edit it down to just get the outlines and when I re-printed it, it was close enough to original size that I could use it to make a new one.Practise is the answer for inkscape, I can do things in a fraction of the time now compared to last year.
I'd just draw that from scratch with a few key dimensions - probably a 15min jobthis is the object im sure folks will reconise the essex V6 rocker cover shape
That’s how I tend to do them at the moment. I like to try them in Inkscape just to practice as lots of people don’t give all the dimensions.I'd just draw that from scratch with a few key dimensions - probably a 15min job
