M4 closed for x hours midday

Lorry tyre burst across 3 lanes plowed through the central reservation iike it was paper whipping a near lorry on our side coming straight for us trailing the barrier in front of it

We managed to stop and still see the lorry coming to us on our side the carriageway it did stop 20 yards before hitting our car



Yes I was in the front as close to the lorry as I am now from my seat in my House to the back door

Wifie bought this up mid afternoon, M4 closed, then in both directions.

Then a similar incident in the 'heads of the valleys' or some such. (Wales).

Glad no one hurt.

motorways are great, right until that moment it all goes pear shaped.

i think as i watched the lorry come on our side through the barrier i said oh s**t
we had time to stop i was on the brakes hard but was aware of being hit from behind that was my first thought you only need one person not looking /paying attention

its was good to see only seconds people coming out there cars etc trying to help give a hand

not what i was expecting to be honest i thought there would be a few moaning pointing fingers moaning how am i going to get passed i got to be at x for work but nothing

the only thing i did think but not till after there was all the people out there cars milling about over the motorway but the moto way on the other side was still going as normal and there was no barrier so if there was a bump etc cars could have come over our side where people where just walking around

Staying alert and keeping two hands on the steering wheel helps, I have had a steering axle blowout and it is controllable albeit a bit of a fight. Motorway monotony can have a bit to do with this sort of incident.

Few bits off market place. Ended up in the middle of nowhere to pick them up.

Myford sized roller box (5/8" shank) and a load of reamers up to 1". Roller box is worth two or three times what I paid for the lot

only thing we are all thankfull for it was mid day on a week day if this would have been at early moring or 5 pm the story would have been massive people in hospital

we are all thankfull there way only just the driver hurt and even he got up and walked to the side of the road can we all cross our fingers and legs that he is ok ive kept an eye on the news to see but nothing as of yet

as said good luck to him and just think our selfs lucky at the sec the tyre failed the lorry came across 3 lanes with out hitting any one hit the central barrier taking it with him flicking it across the carrageway on the other side the road and only hit 1 other lorry in the back side

Thank " someone" you are all OK . I was going to say go and buy a lottery ticket but was beaten to it . possibly a good excuse for a stiff drink or three. I does make you/us realise just how thin a thread our lives hang on..

I thought, as I have some baby's head, TITS and BITS in a RAT pack. I will make some hot scran.

1960s unopened tinned rations issued to my Dad at some point

The tin opener in these rations was inside a tin can along with the loo roll and other things.
As a small boy I learnt some good words when my Dad returned from an exercise.
Some Norbert had opened the tin with the loo roll and tin opener in with a bayonet and reduced the loo roll to confetti.

Another ebay bargain: pair of electric heated RX8 seats with rails for a Defender, just need to clean them up and treat the leather and sort out the wiring harness. On ebay with a 2:30 am end time and seller would not post, though he agreed to package them for me to get a courier to collect, so a nice seat upgrade for the Defender for £100 plus £60 postage.

please don't tell us you passed that ' naturally' Mine was the size of a grain of sand and the pain was incredible . The doc said the pain was caused by the muscles around the P tube sensing the foreign body and gripping it .

I have some form the 70's, 80's and 90's.

I get RAT packs every few weeks.

A small momentary foot pedal pedal... thought I'd give it a go for TIG welding on the Lorch rather than using the switch on the torch itself as I quite often waver when using my thumb or finger. @Munkul Thanks again for the Tuchel plug; this is what I wanted it for.

I'm hovering over the 'buy' button on a CK TL26 (Trim Line; 26 current rating but 17 size) TIG torch but I know I should really investigate making a torch cooler...

Both very suitable for Fire extinguisher and gas suppression system work.
Will be calibrated and used.

I have a digital scale, but I prefer this type for testing loading of springs and drop links.

I'm hovering over the 'buy' button on a CK TL26 (Trim Line; 26 current rating but 17 size) TIG torch but I know I should really investigate making a torch cooler...

Get confirmation of the size before you commit, I was thinking about one of them and although smaller than a 26, they were a fair bit bigger than a 17

According to CK literature they are identical in size, aside from the flexible 17 being a touch longer?

However, I would hazard a guess that the cable might be slightly heavier duty on the Trim-Line as it is a 200A torch - not that I need that.
