Wifi problem

Delete it from your list, power down computer.
Re boot.
Go to WiFi settings and search for it again.
Click auto connect, pass word etc.

Go to, say BBC weather.

Log off. try again, should cure it.

If Not I know ere you live and I have a BFH.
That will fix it.

Did all that several times this morning to no avail.

if you're a bt customer with a smart hub or a smart hub 2 go in to the router home page and turn off smart setup.

Virgin Media.
The Router is fine, the wifi adapter is fine, it's just that they're not talking to each other anymore for some odd reason.

i had a virgin router that had this problem and every 3 months i had to factory restore it and reset every conection in the house

VM modems have a reputation for going flaky. Much more reliable in modem mode than superhub mode, and apparently faster too.

Just an idea - did you have any reason to apply a static address to the PC you're trying to connect? The VM hub allows for address reservation under advanced settings - DHCP.

Have you tried to "forget" the wireless network on the PC?

The one thing I hadn't tried was a factory reset of the router but that seems to have done the trick.
No idea why it suddenly changed while we were away unless VM did some sort of remote update.

i used to do it on what i think was a v2 router super hub when i had a new contract they upgraded the router ive never had to do it till as of yet

My bet is that virgin applied an update to the router that wasn't compatible with your wireless adapter. I had an issue like this on a sky router with an older laptop of mine. Laptop ran perfectly but stopped connecting as you describe. It coincided with an update date on the router that I had no control of. Factory reset and it was fine but because they pushed the update again it happened again. I rang sky and they said my laptop was too old and i needed to get a new one.... i left sky... (they wouldn't disable the updates either)

I had virgin for many years and once I put the hub in modem mode and bought a decent router I was much happier.

Currently have Kcom fibre, when it was fitted I told the bloke to leave the router in its box and gave him my own to fit. He refused but wasn't even out of the door before id unplugged the router they supplied, only bit I use is the fibre modem
