Yep, sounds like mine..... I didn't realise we were neighbours!my neighbor had a grindstone mounted to a washing machine motor, no guards or propper on off switch, that instead unvolved pluggin it in to turn it on or pulling it out to turn it off
I should drag my old grinder out and photograph it.For your delectation, note I have removed the original Picador grinding wheels (yes they used to sell this as a grinding kit!) and put on the wheels you see here

At the time I could not afford a 'proper' bench grinder. I was given the kit as present and I have kept it as a reminder of how it used to be for me!Picador was rubbish BUT thats all there woz......
