If he bought the proper roller kit and has a VFD that not too bad. Looks single phase though.

Don't they teach you how to spell up north.Clucking Bell.
I was thinking that. Some of the proper wheels are £100+ each. One reason why my build is ‘ongoing’!If he bought the proper roller kit and has a VFD that not too bad. Looks single phase though.
You are a very very lucky person - not because you got a Sealey grinder, because it still works....When I was a kid our neighbour did a lot of agri fabrication & repairs had a grinder just like that! I always wanted to build one but when I was old enough I got a Sealey bench grinder instead, I'm still using it now.
For your delectation, note I have removed the original Picador grinding wheels (yes they used to sell this as a grinding kit!) and put on the wheels you see here
Built in 1988 using a washing machine motor and whatever was at hand.....

Mine claims to have a digital inverter controlled motor... I'm wondering if that could be reused complete!Back when washing machine motors were easily reusable for other purposes - unlike the motors of todays washers !

Possibly but some of those inverter controlled washing machines have the motor integral to the drum, and similar diameter.
The Fisher and Paykel Smartdrive washer motors can be rewired as generators for micro hydro or wind power. Look up Marty T on YouTube, as he has some videos recently on building a micro hydro generator for basically free.Yep. A couple of random pictures off ebay of a "direct drive" motor.

I mean that doesn't mean you couldn't use it...but the uses would be limited!
