A tripod light . I think it'll be ideal to use by welding bench when its starting to get dark. With some minor modification of additional weight on the feet, it will be adequate to hold my IR paint curing lamp too. The light has a good diffuse brightness. Does need a reasonable powerbank as my previously ok one just cuts off. Comes with two phone holders, will be used elsewhere.

Was there any good stuff that you want to keep or use in what they tossed over the fence? Or mostly just dross that they tossed to save taking a few steps to the skip?

I said I liked them and was given these from a neighbour's barn clearance. In a sorry state but the wood seems fairly solid just the dowels are rotten. Wouldn't know where to start tbh ref preserving/restoring them. No idea even how old etc:

OK this wasn't today, it was Friday, its a surface pro 4 with an i7 and 16gb ram, used but good nick for a good price. Its a revelation. All the power of a good laptop, and all the convenience of a tablet. The keyboard itself and the magnetic attachment design is superb. I get why they cost so much brand new!

I've got it all set up with onedrive for work stuff, dropbox for pictures, solidworks, and just about to see if it can handle some games

Pretty much all dross and completely unusable

There were 2 exceptions

1. Shakespear fishing box with some sea fishing reels and weights, sold these on FB Marketplace

2. Two bits of round bar, approx 15mm dia, very rusty but will chop up and use as stakes for the shuttering I'm making to put a ramp up to the garage doors

It's even worse when you've turned the bottle off tight after flushing the threads & fitting the new bottle . Four months later .. no gas , bottle still turned off tight . A 36 mile round trip later I get a the replacement bottle and months later a credit note for the bottle with the faulty valve.

Wasn't expecting much at the scrap yard today, turns out there was 300kg in the trailer and I left £58 richer

New addition to the garage, suppose I could call it a happy birthday present to myself!

A 50’s (I estimate) Woodhouse and Mitchell junior with the 6” bed, optional cabinet base and L0 long nose chuck mount. Happy is an understatement considering the price, despite the patina it’s in very good mechanical condition and as a bonus had a large single phase motor installed some years ago. Makes the lights dim in the garage
To call moving it into position “difficult” is the understatement of the year. Weighing in at a literal ton it was more difficult than I’d envisaged but it placed so as long as we don’t move house any time soon it should be fine! Just need to get some metric change wheels which I’ll likely make and a 12” faceplate to complete it
