I would expect you would have done this the other way around?Clocked the faces, CNC side is nicer but not too bad in any case.
Make the attachment to the lathe first, fix it directly to the lathe and then machine the collet side?

It is for holding in a chuck rather than mounting on the spindle nose and will be used on both the CNC and the manual lathe and probably also in the mills..I would expect you would have done this the other way around?

No I couldn't find any good way to hold them on the grinder. In the end the casting turned very nicely with no ringing or chatter. You didn’t need to grind them then?
That’s what I was worried about. Nicely done. Didn’t even consider holding it by the thread. M48x1.0 iircNo I couldn't find any good way to hold them on the grinder. In the end the casting turned very nicely with no ringing or chatter.
You won't be milling the pegs. You will be milling the spaces between the pegs.
Wrap a piece of paper around the perimeter. Divide into six by folding. Transfer fold marks up to top surface. Join opposite ones. The top face will then have six lines on it. Use a pointy thing in the mill spindle and an eye ball to align one pair with the X-axis. Zero the Y-axis and step over half the peg width plus half the cutter width.
Other option is shove the a 3/4" bolt through the square, and lock it up solid with a nut and use the hex of the bolt head for indexing.

for tightening wheel bearings?Started to make a groove nut socket ,turned and bored out of a 90mm steel bar, milled the 3/4" square drive now I just have to work out the best way of milling 6 equally distance pegs into the face now.
