Do you use a clamp ring to hold the jaws in tension, or do you just let fly and allow the cutting pressure do the work? Just interested...

It is always best practice to grip in the direction you will be gripping the part when boring out soft jaws. For this one I just put an m12 nut in and clamped the jaws onto it and bored them to size.Do you use a clamp ring to hold the jaws in tension, or do you just let fly and allow the cutting pressure do the work? No disputing that.I'm *trying*
The chuck is not a normal scroll chuck and you can slide the jaws to the diameter you want then turning the key moves them in a bit, maybe 10mm on dia, not sure.I'm *trying* to be good.
There's a first time for everything, I suppose.
What's the exact purpose of the grooves, btw?
Had the hydraulic version for my CNC, loved it so kept looking at eBay until a manual version turned up at the right price. That's natty. Never seen that type of chuck before.
...the belt is fine but the staples and pin are no more...
Rather do it properly, besides I think you borrowed it all last timePull out all the metal work and lace it up with a leather thong from your weekend wardrobe.
