I had my best shave in years this morning, with a two blade disposable Motivated me to try sharpening the second straight razor. It started off miles out and took 20 minutes on p240 to make an edge. I then went through p400,800,1200,2000,3000,5000,7000 and 10,000 paper and would say it was getting pretty damn sharp.

I got a scrap of leather and 1um diamond paste to polish edge before stropping. Leather wrapped around a O1 steel bar.

Well this clumsy git dragged the edge on the O1 and pulled a huge burr in the last third of blade, meaning I'll have to do much of it again But, the top 2/3rds are fine and will be enough to tell me if it will work.

Once we're finished it gets covered with a double skinned sheet, the 2 sheets seperate with the moisture and the thinner one basically seals to the silage and the other one is the weather protection, we then pull a sort of green mesh cover over and weigh that down with tyres and rubber mats. I'll get a few more pics when we're at the sheeting stage.

It's more wood bothering my dad helped me knock up this CO2 Laser Cutter work station. It's got space under it to store loads of A4 sheets.

The untidy corner tidied.

I've moved the grinder tool cupboard next to the T&C grinder makes things a bit more sensible!

It's pulled the top forward a bit so the lid clears the shelves. Bucket is for coolant. Pipe in the front is for the air blast needs tidying.

A4 sheets of ply etc can stand vertically.

Could have been a fraction nicer with new wood but this cost me nothing and the useful wood pile is a bit smaller

Finally drilled the holes in my welding table. This was a bit of a trial run for the Mag Drill. I am going to drill the hot bench next but I have a plan, total overkill but it will look good. This is the table and some Kennedy F clamps modified a la @Tangledfeet :



Table folds up nicely flat against the wall. I was very pleasantly surprised at just how accurate the holes in the table turned out.

Iirc, some kitchen chopping boards are made of it?

HDPE usually (I've used chopping board material in the past for some things, but I like acetal for gears as it's so nice to machine as well as being low friction),.

Might bump a bit but it shouldn't hurt. If they are running on those small pinions you haven't got a lot of teeth engaged it would be better if the pinions were bigger.

Only one way to find out...

It'll be a while before they get a test, but it won't be a big deal to remake them if they're a bit too bumpy.

It was supposed to be a crockomboosh (sp? ) but I lost the morning taking her to A&E, she stabbed herself in the wrist with scissors excitedly opening presents! She's fine thankfully, missed everything major.

When it was my girlfriend ....... it wasn't profiteroles that she got for her birthday .... How times change
