luck, on ebay every night, have parts to swop, a good eye, and being a generally nice bloke helps! my last one was reluctantly sold for £50k.. never saw a penny of it myself! HMRC got the lot................

I think the prices for classic bikes (and cars) are always a shock when you can remember them being sold for a few hundred quid *not long ago.

I don't think the prices will drop to be honest. Remember how E-Type prices went nuts in the '90s? They've just climbed since, albeit very slowly for a few years, then steadily, shot up, slowed, shot up again etc. Classic cars and bikes are classed as investments now, and some have bought them purely for that purpose. The biggest and swiftest increases seem to be in large capacity Japanese bikes from the '70s and '80s. No doubt for nostalgic reasons because people who remember them now have the disposable income to be able to buy what they couldn't back in the day. Another factor will probably be because you can spend more time riding them than fettling them.

Even those who don't/didn't own one as an investment will become reluctant to use them as intended when values rise to the levels we're seeing now.

I installed the cylinder onto the four pistons by raising the bike bench (hospital bed) the cylinder was strapped to a roof beam! but after several attempts and it was well past midnight I hit the wrong pedal and let the bench down
The eagle eyed will notice smaller pins and fatter small end bushes, that is because that cylinder was out to plus 90thou oversize and I had no pistons, I used Bantam D1 pistons with Guzzi 250 twin rings,

Aha, yes, no problem, you will be looking for a clutch, inner primary case, engine sprocket, gearbox end cover, KS shaft, the dynamo / distributor will be quite hard to find though, not fitted to anything else, well in fact everything except the KS shaft is unique to a Hawk,
Do you have any record of the registration number or better the frame number, I have a list of survivors, the one at Bonhams just sold for £20,700 missing parts and needing a very full restoration, I thought it was well worth that amount!I was given a Silver Hawk by an uncle back in the late 60's, sold it for £ 900 about 10 years later. Got that one wrong
