I did wonder if it was an oxygen scrubber of some sort but I didn’t think they could be that small.
I am sure we had something similar in the brazing hearth at school, torches that used natural gas with a hvlp type compressor for the air supply. It is getting on for forty years ago so I may be mistaken.Looking at this place: https://www.flamefast.co.uk/hot-metal-found/torches/t2-t4-gas-torches.html where the torch looks like your one, it mentions that they can run on a fuel gas and compressed air mixture, with them offering a fan/blower unit if you do not want a full-on compressor. So the withe thing might be the old equivalent of that.
Whatever it is, its purpose is to improve on the atmospheric 20-21% oxygen supply to the torch.
Count your blessings it doesn't have one of those ()^*&_*(_& Webastid sunroofs on it.Today I pulled this lump out from its hiding place. No engine or gearbox but everything else there. Not sure what to do with it yet. Sell on for a quick profit (it was cheap), restore it or put a stupidly big engine in it. Only time will tell.

I have one of these, still in the box with a spare blade. I think the instructions are in there too. I can scan them if they are in there and you would like them? I will have a look when I go to the workshop later today.a chrome plated hand tool marked " Monodex " ; it appears to be a nipper tool, but for what ?

I tried it out on a piece of scrap copper plate just now. It makes about a 2mm wide cut.

Yes it is, but I will admit I have never used it in the 20 years I have owned it! It was my fathers and by the looks of it, he didn't use it either.....Thanks.I see that the other blade included appears to be knife edged.
I have a relatively modern one of those bought sometime in the late 80's, around the time I got my first Mig.Yes it is, but I will admit I have never used it in the 20 years I have owned it! It was my fathers and by the looks of it, he didn't use it either.....![]()
