Dunno what gears, only had a quick look under the outside light. Its rusty, but i have citric acid for the rusty bits. I'll have a look in dealz (what poundland is called over here) and see online how much a chain is, i might be able to citric the old one too. The seat is ok-ish, the padding is gone off the front of it, again i'll have a butchers online. Should be a days fun getting it up and going.

ive done a few chains when desprate to see if something working before spending money on it

citric acid over a few hours to loosee the rust off then wash and leave over night in diesel should get it free
just be aware if its got bad and old ive had a chain snap on me it was not pritty i ened up a pile on the floor so if for a test go for it when working spend a £10er and get a new one

sounds like you got all the parts there with work to get running id do that before spending out and then chasing your tale once your in for £30 in parts and then you find theres more wrong than its worth fixing

me and son pickup a bike and im teaching him fixing them 26 inch mtb it looked a bit rusty surface stuff but ok

we spent a few hours cleaning new cables put 2nd hand tyres on it as the ones on it where cracked we then found a bent spindle on the rear a snaped spoke all the brake pads very warn and the rear derailer had gone a bit soft so did not like to drop to the lowest gear price the parts by the time added all the bits up it was the same as he would sell the bike for
so we ended striping it for our spares boxes bit of a waste of time but some you win some you loose

I got a reply from M-DRO saying the scale is meant to be mounted with the supplied single end fitting kit, didn't get that and it is supposedly an extra so...
I will see tomorrow, might manage just to use parts of the standard kit, if not I think I may know someone who could manage to make something suitable up

Turns out I did get the single ended kit it is in amongst the angle bracket plate kit, not sure if it will make it easier or not, tomorrow we will see

Don't use old brake cables, not worth it, replace the inner cable before even thinking about riding it, you will only find out its weak when you need full brakes in an emergency and then it's too late. It's a tiny amount of money versus a broken neck.

EVERYTHING is on backorder, everywhere. It really is astonishing just how wide and deep this problem is.

Meanwhile, today I acquired an Owl, okay he is not really mine, but he decided to park himself in one of my trees at the front door so today he belongs to me. Tomorrow will likely be somewhere else but he is welcome to stay as he is keeping the pigeons away.

I had loads of them from when we converted BMW E9 Csi to five speed, could not give them away, until a guy bought one for some sort of oval circuit racing, stuck it behind a yank V8, they sold like hot cakes after that!
