I'm in the process of restoring a 1954 Dodge M37 3/4-ton 4-wheel-drive military cargo truck. I figure I'm about 2/3 done. I've restored the chassis, axles, brakes (still need to install the brake lines), tranny, transfer case, drivelines, and a bunch of accessories. I'm about half done with a minor engine overhaul (the engine didn't really need much work). I was fortunate to find one with a dry climate history and virtually zero rust on the chassis. The body is very solid, with only a few small rust spots where mud would accumulate and stay wet, and the bottom of the battery box, and I've repaired all but a couple of those. I still need to install the new wiring harness before doing much more assembly work. I'm planning to keep it completely stock, the only exceptions being a few safety upgrades, such as a dual master brake cylinder, seat belts, etc.
I plan to keep the 24-volt system. It has a huge 100-amp 24-volt alternator. I think this truck was originally used as a radio truck, as it also has a port through the body for a big antenna. The ignition, alternator, brake cylinder, crankcase, etc., are sealed and have vent tubes connected to the air intake system. Fording kits were available so that theoretically you could put the top down, set the throttle, and stand up while you drove through water deep enough to completely submerge the vehicle (not that I plan to do that, of course).
Here's what it is supposed to look like when it's reassembled.

I have more photos somewhere, but here are a few. The M37 is currently residing in one of our shipping containers at our house while I figure out a more suitable place to work on it, since at present I have to roll out the chassis every time I want to do any serious work on it. I have virtually all of the parts for it, and quite a few spares, so at this point it's mostly a matter of time and labor to finish it up.

Love all these, can't like them all!
And I can show this thread to the boss, as proof that I'm really really restrained in my vehicle ownership. So I CAN buy a Landrover 101 GS.
Yes, I know you've a couple. Consider me jealous.
I went to look at a couple of E-plated cars while I was still running mine - one was parked for ages on Nantwich Morrisons (or maybe it was Safeway at the time) until it moved to behind the fire station in Winsford, and another at "Classy Chassis" in the Potteries. Didn't buy either. Is the 800 figure for E-reg cars, or for all of them?1987 e reg audi coupe quattro 2.2 5 pot narrow body non turbo model.
