Weld it up

Weld it up![]()
Or at least until you know what the problem was/is,Possibility
Probably time for a new one!
Or at least until you know what the problem was/is,
Disconnect and run up to make sure no lasting damage has been done.
If has blocked and cooked the temps have possibly been put into the egr cooler, turbo, and all exhaust side.
Hole burnt and poked at I would guess. Water was used to extinguish the flames. The truck itself is untouched by the flames. Looks like it had pin holes before yesterday’s events.

Would a pin hole introduce oxygen to the dpf helping a 600deg regen make 1000deg and melt its way around the hole ?
Ive not had to weld any dpf yet or seen one like that
Id check the breakers yards , get a genuine one off a written off L200 for a couple hundred
That looks an expensive mess to me (sorry!)![]()
The above would my thoughts as well.
Chances of getting a good servicable DPF used is thin to nothing I would think!
You might be lucky...![]()
All my thoughts too.
I would be running it up with the exhaust separated in front of the DPF - to see if it has cooked the turbo/exhaust valves/piston rings - I would not wanna be seeing too much blueish oil smoke - before I parted with too much of my hard earned money on a new DPF filter.
What do they say "the first loss is always the easiest to bare".
Not sure the grammer here - it is too much to bear or too much to bare?
Sons got the DPF off it, looks like we’ve been lucky. Not much blue smoke.
Well done!![]()
victory (hopefully)Sons got the DPF off it, looks like we’ve been lucky. Not much blue smoke.
What about when they regen & clear all the soot out?Really don't want to appear rude but; do you understand what a DPF does and the significant health implications are to us once it is removed? Modern DI Diesel engines produce very fine particulate matter. Easily taken into the lungs and stays there. DPF retains this matter and gets burned off as and when the engine controller has criteria met and calls for a regen while driving.
Simply 'getting rid' is the worse thing anyone could do for public health, the environment, children, grandchildren etc etc.
It's attitudes like this that are causing unnecessary deaths for ones own personal gain!
