Just fixed a potato rumbler, The motor was turning but the plastic attachment to the 'basket' had split and was just turning on the shaft. Cynic in me says that part was designed to fail. If I had a small lathe, The space for one and the skill to use it. I would turn one up out of brass and secure it with a grub screw. I used epoxy resin and it seems to have worked

James that looks like the old 1004 perkins engine, some of those ran a water/oil cooler heat exchanger sandwhich plate under the oil filter, the later ones had the cooler strapped to the engine block but again were water fed. They can leech water into the oil, worth checking to see if it has one.

Not been to look at the cooler yet, but it’s not a late one with it on the side, just checked my photos.

Had another look at a shot of the head and I think I’ve found the issue? Between 1/2 and 3/4? I overlooked it last night as I was looking at other things and it looked too uniform. Just ordering bits and noticed the head gasket

I was told some years back Audi used K-Seal due to a high number of porous castings. I have used it a few times mainly for core plug leaks etc, frustratingly on rebuilt American engines. All my Rover V8 engine's had Barrs Leaks in after being apart as the first one had a weepy core plug. Barrs claimed it to be a good lubricant for water pump seals and I never suffered a water pump failure on any of them.

I needed a vise for the Centec mill had had to choose between these

I decided the angle vise was the easiest and quickest to sort :laughing:

It wasn't too bad and cleaned up fine. I was surprised as it has been sat in the base of the vertical mill for around 15 years!!

Yep, trailer tyres do get overlooked.

I went to the quarry for 500 kgs of sand paid for the 750 he put in my trailer.

half a mile down the road disaster.

two shiny new tyres later....

wot make of tire is that . the size of them are a bit thin on the ground now . that looks like a camac tire

i bought some for mine . then had a windfall. well not so much of one someone went over the railway crossing and a wheel and tire jumped out of there trailer and landed outside my house

it was brand new so now have a spare :laughing:

Haha, I had a similar experience last week - went to get a trailer load of compost, (trailer is good for about 300 kg), went over the weighbridge empty, loader driver is waiting for me and tips in a bucketful and the tyres go flat! I asked how much the bucket holds ‘about 400kg monsieur’ !! Anyway, he waves over to the warehouse, brings out the airline and puts a bit of wind into the tyres until they look normal, back over the weighbridge to find I had a round 500kg, I drove home very slowly...
