Launching shopping into my trolley after scanning ++

Pretty much exactly why I go I've had to ask a few till operators to throw it further though, so I don't have to reach for it and slow things down.

Although the staff in my local one are very good. And from the amount of cars in the car park every day, it's very popular.

I'll second the Aldi stuff. I have had 2 pairs of their thermal work trousers for about 4 years now.

Wear them for about 4 months of the year no heating at work, a few oil stains and that's about it.
I keep looking to buy some more but it must have been a one time offer....

Be patient, their stock rotates - they'll come back in store again. I have a couple of pairs - as you say, grand for those nippy days.

There’s an easy work around to them firing stuff at you.

they can’t process the next mans stuff till you pay. Sort all your shopping out then pay. Annoys the hell out of them but means they can’t rush you.

I have only been in Aldi once in my life - did not like it at all.

Where Lidl's - I find everything to be OK. Not had anything out of Lidl I could not eat or drink.

The Aldi lot are more aggressive.

We only have a Lidl so choice made. I like their cheap chocolate. They do good coffee also.

Sounds like your trousers are shrinking. I'd avoid washing them. Job done

No, I've had to request more vigorous firing through - faster they chuck it, the less I have to reach for it and the faster I can go . . . I like to be stood waiting for them to hurry up

As an ex cashier, a long time ago and not in an Aldi, I can assure you it doesn't annoy me when you take your sweet time fannying about - I get paid the same whether I'm battering the till (I exited the profession as we got scanners - I was typing in remembered PLU numbers ) or twiddling my thumbs thinking of where I'm going that evening, or who I'm taking . . . the person getting annoyed are the queue members who just want to be getting out of there and back to something useful . . .

When you've had to deal with the idiots who make up the general public, you will forgive the poor sod behind the till, stacking the shelves, mopping up the spillages etc an awful lot - being polite and just treat them as an actual human goes a long way (even in Halfords ) - I'm just surprised more members of the industry aren't in custody awaiting trial . . .

It annoys the Aldi and Lidl ones. Unless their through put averages about 1000 an hour they loose a bonus I think.

It’s a question of training them. When I go in now, it all comes through at a sensible speed. I wouldn’t do their job. But they are, so do it properly without being an **** or move on.

Apache trousers are spot on, no idea how much they cost me as it was getting on for 10 years ago, still going strong, wear them most days.

I've had snickers hoodies in the past and still got a couple, the material lasts really well but they fade after a few washes.

i swear by mascot gear. their boots trousers jackets etc. hardwearing comfy. trousers take nearly two years to put holes in and i get a year out of the boots. snickers pants wouldnt last me six months and any other boots would be clapped out in 4 months

Really really good gear

I went into their store in Speyer last year and was able to buy some really nice gear for the grandson. They had about a third of the store given up to kids clothing, nice stuff too.

This is something I have had to admit to myself, I tried buying a bike last week, just a run of the mill pushbike. Not a chance, I wasn't going to pay £300 for a £100 bike. I will keep looking.

Anyone who has been in retail understands exactly what you mean. The antics of some of the buffoons make up for it though, we should write a book.

i still wear boilersuits but ive noticed that iam in the minority. i keep a couple of pairs in the van so if i get covered in oil or grease i change. and when ive finished a job i take them off so keeping the seats clean. i cannot see why they are not as popular as they used to be.

Not often I will wear a boilersuit - I still do now and again.

Not over keen on them - but I do wear them if I am gonna get filthy.

Lads here - like the 3M papersuits for really filthy jobs - "murder suits" is what they call them. I find them just too hot and would rather wear a cotton boilersuit.

My big problem with boiler suits are the following: I am short and fat - the arms/legs are too long


Another point - I have to add is - we all keep a full change of clothing at the workshop - in case we get soaking wet or covered in fuel or something!
