The fella at a garage I use told me the ethanol they add to petrol can evaporates past seals that keep petrol fumes in.My pickup hasnt moved in 6months. I tried to start it yesterday; it was having nothing of it. pretty sure the fuel is stale.
Any suggestions on pepping it up. Besides syphoning it out, and replacing

Stu
I've had success with squirting a load of easy start into the fuel, poke the straw into the petrol and push the button. Maybe try that into the fuel in the fuel filter. It might get it running well enough to use.
That's a whole other thread..Easy Start; Opiaite for engines. One sniff and they're hooked
If its a carb fed engine, remove the air cleaner, squirt/dribble some fuel down the throat - saves battery power spinning the engine to drag fuel back up to refill float chambers etc on the mechanical pump as if everything else is working, it'll fire and run for a short timeMight be fuel has dried in the carb and blocked a few jets.
I'm thinking you have an old 50's pickup here?
Worth a blast with some carb cleaner. Have you tried connecting it up to a fuel can with fresh fuel? It also eliminates the pump going wrong.
Good point. (Or not)I'm guessing there's a spark?
One of a great things with a 71yr old motor it has no sensors. It needs Fuel, Air and a spark. Of coarse all at the right time.May not be relevant, but I had a vehicle not start after a longish layup and turned out the crank sensor had died.
So definitely not relevant thenOne of a great things with a 71yr old motor it has no sensors. It needs Fuel, Air and a spark. Of coarse all at the right time.
