Hi all. I've put this question in this general section because I know the welder I have is a badged version of an Esab but is badged Snapon and I believe it was also under other trade names (smashweld etc). I think it was probably best known as an 'Esab minimig 180' or maybe 'Snapon 180c' but I know it was badged 'Smashweld' as I've seen pictures of this welder with this name on the side. I can put a pic up if anyone needs it and will probably be asking more questions as time goes by and I get stuck into sorting it.
I've just had it delivered and it's in a pretty poor state on the outside and very dirty inside. I have a lot of work to do on it but that's fine as long as nothing major has died.
My first question is about the drive roller. I've never seen anything like it before so I'm a bit in the dark. The drive roller itself resembles a thin washer about 2mm thick and is about 48mm diameter. The pressure roller is almost identical. Stamped onto the drive roller is- 0.6-1.0 which I assume relates to wire diameter. It has only one groove (there's no room for more). The pressure roller also appears to have a groove which I first thought was just wear but now think it's an actual groove.
Does anyone know if these two rollers will accept from .6mm right up to to 1.0mm wire? I find it hard to believe but can't see any other explanation for the marking.
There shoild be a pic of the drive roller here somewhere.
Thanks to all
John
