I have no experience of the professional machines that have accurate wirespeed indications in feet- or metres- per-second. I believe the older separate wirefeed units used tachogenerators. It can also be done with optical or inductive sensors using slotted discs or toothed cogs.A quick question for Eddie or other electronics guys please. I have a couple of neat little mini-digital voltmeters which I'd like to put onto my keeper machines to give an accurate indication of the wire speed setting. Both machines are using a PWM motor drive rather than a variable DC voltage. Is there any way to connect one of these to give a sensible readout at all?
