I didn't wear them yesterday but didn't intend doing as much as I did !

I done my knees in as a sparks, the apprentice was sent into the loft to wire the lights while the sparky pushed the cable up through the celing from below.
We don't get apprentices now so I still have to do it!

I'm not saying i have cabin fever but yesterday the freezer drawer refused to come out, and after a split seconds loss of reason there were bits of freezer drawer all over the floor. I've just plastic welded it back together.

I have the exact same job to do on our ditching/grading bucket, I doubt it will look that good though!

In my apprentiship I was working in the radio lab at perdio radio. Drawing office guy comes in one morning with a very old radio he had found in the loft of the house he had just bought. Size of a coffin with valves the size of milk bottles. Boffins checked it out it was good to go.Everyone exited. Connected it up to a stabilized power supply and promptly blew all the valves . the P/S had failed went to window and launched it into space made fantastic noise when it hit the car park 5 stories below.

Varnished the bench and unpacked some toys!

Today,I drove 73miles to straighten 1 bar on a gate,then whilst there,removed the post,straightened the actuators mounting lug,re welded it,then straightened and re welded the 4 mounting flanges.
The property maintenance company who asked me to do this,have been repeatedly requesting me to do this ,and I had declined 4x as there were electric actuators,which I didn’t want to get involved in,eventually they assured me their 2 men would take care of that element,even offered to come and collect me from my workshop when my van was in the garage last week,so today I did the metalwork parts,however the only repair requested from me was 1 bent bar,3 blows with a hammer! The other bits were not shown on their photos,good job my van is well equipped.
The 2 men they supplied turned out to be 3,who arrived 1 hour late,with no tools,and had driven nearly as far as me,and that was their 2nd visit,you couldn’t make it up,what a way to operate.
Good job I didn’t quote for this,”straighten a bar please”.

That’s all,the gates only 5’ wide,it’s been there 18 years,but I certainly wouldn’t bolt into the mortar joint.

Seems like a normal procedure for some firms. i called to check on a scaffolding for a disabled client only to find the scaffolding guys had driven from Weston s mare to Chippenham only to find they didn't bring any planks . I suggested they buy a couple from the local builders merchants but they said they had to go back and would be there the next day. I made Bl***y shure the price for the job didn't increase.

I had an aircon 'engineer' turn up at my house some years back who then had to go all the way back to base to collect some ladders.
It showed up as mileage (plus time) on the invoice. I queried it: apparently it was my fault that the aircon unit was ten feet up a wall, as though they'd never encountered them anywhere other than on the floor

Stripped and fixed my charity shop vice today. It's a bloody heavy old lump!
Brought my old Meddings drill up from the barn and took off the surface rust on the beds, it still runs fine thankfully. I almost did myself a mischief lifting it up there, must be more the 50KG? It's so old it doesn't have a starter so I better get that sorted. Bolted everything down to the bench, what fun. Need to find a reasonably priced big vice for that one, they are £100 new for a half decent one!
Found a bench grinder in the rubbish at work, just had a faulty switch but otherwise brand new with fine grinding wheels just right for tungsten I hope. The other one is my old sealey with course wheel and wire wheel. I put them both on a big lump of wood so I can pull them out to use and push back out the way again, I would lose too much bench space otherwise.
Argon bottle back against the wall behind my metal table, also recovered from the barn. Is it ok to have the bottle close to the table?
Going to build a Dexian shelf unit tomorrow to go left of the bench and I should then have enough space for all my welding etc.
May put my compressor under the bench as well, seems like a good out of the way spot?
Will also put up some temporary lights over the bench area, the house is not complete yet so I'm running on an extension lead....

My parents car. 1999 Clio II.

Been running rough, plugs and ht leads connections.

It was an easy diagnosis, if you lean on a ht lead, it runs sweet, probably a crimp with some pliers, would have done it.

New leads and plugs 25 squid in euros, no.3 was loose, no.1 was different to the other sparkplugs?

Slightly more difficult to get to, and they didn't bother, and ignored it.

Battery died in the cold snap last week.

£120 quid of bits including a set of windscreen wipers, battery plugs and leads.
