Yes I cocked up the gap might have to cut a curved peice to fill it. Got the other side done better. Ill grout later and I think, no more tiles this year.

Knocked up a cone for part of a distribution vessel... 4mm 316 stainless.
Plasma cut and step bent in 2 halves, as it's a bit small for the rollers we have.
Stereo welded together and welds hammered ready for polishing.

Then a radiused knuckle formed all the way around the circumference to match smoothly into the part it fits onto.

Got the 3D printer working again, this time to make an adapter plate for the side of my new shot blasting cabinet. This is to connect the Henry to the outlet filter and take away all the dust. It was only printed on draft settings, not too worried about the finish due to where it is being used and I could not be bothered to change the filament colour. My excuse, is that I should be able to see it on the side and not knock or break it off.

Intrigued,why the hammered welds,and how do you form that radius flange?

That's the wrong picture, just tacked up there.
The welds get hammered to relieve the heat distortion mostly, but helps when it comes to polishing too. If the weld on the penetration side is only just through, hammering some weld material through means it can be polished without really losing material thickness on the surrounding area.

Knuckle is done by hand, gradually hammered over a suitable former, nothing technical. Just keeping it nice and even and not bruising it to death is where the skill comes in.

Im going to make @8ob happy with this rather low cut stump.



It had a void which was full of metal took some careful cutting to lower the stump i think bobs last comment cursed this one


The stick will be going to a saw mill, the tree and 6 shallows had burnt down. Shame, beautiful location.




The canopy i zipped line over above the 8ft bank sped up the job ten fold, only dropped two small limbs on the beach.

I needed a pair of toolmakers clamps for use with the model boat building, but as the ones you can buy are a bit big for me, I made my own.

first I needed some threaded rod, so made some with a die....no I'm not going to try and screwcut 4" of 8BA thread.

and then to make the tightening knobs, Im not a fan of knurling and fine that fluted sides give a better grip

and parting the them off afterwards, the parting tool is 1.5mm wide.

then to drill and tap holes in the jaws of the clamps, made from 3/16" square brass

and cutting the taper on the jaw, this was the easiest setup to use, if the jaws were bigger I would probably have milled them. think it must have been the first time I've used a flycutter in a collet chuck in a 4 jaw chuck, but the collet chuck was already in the 4 jaw.

I do prefer the ones like this as they can be adjusted from one side and can then be laid flat on the back of the jaw.

you can but ready made ones for ER16, ER25, ER32 and ER40 collets, but not for ER20 collets, and I use ER20's so made my own

Bit more on this today, section of a spinning cut out and welded around the cone I formed yesterday. The hammered knuckle meets nicely into this spun section. Inside of the weld is polished out to make a nice smooth and hygienic transition.
Outside weld (visible) will be left, just pickled , as that will be on the outside.

Today I've received a call from a ancient woman seeking for an electrician because the RCD was continuously tripping.
Since she appeared ancient at the phone
I've decided to go to check prior lunch .
Once arrived I've found the RCD with closed contacts so I've looked at the power meter.
Reading the LCD screen ...
Overload 376% , reduce power...
K factor 15% .
What all this mean?
Customer doesn't pay the bill , distributor cuts the power to the 15% (450W) .
So I felt so bad for this woman who appeared to be roughly 85 , around the age of my grandmother (passed away last year on November)
Alone ,no family close to her.
I've called the power company asking for this woman information about what to do to solve the problems .
1 hour at the phone .
Explained what she should do .
And hopefully she solved.
Said her good luck, good lunch and good bye.
She asked me how much , I've answered telling her .
Nothing , I'll be paid once I'll be up there in sky"
She almost cry

Floor grouted. Pleased it is finally done and Im happy with it,last thing I'll do another day is level the hidden gap along the wall and at the back, mostly so water cant collect there if mopping or pipe leak.
