I don't use it just charge it once in a blue moon 
I still have a 7.5 volt hitachi driver its 20 years old and still holds its charge
Not sure, but I may have an extra 7.2 volt charger ? If so, it would have an American two prong plug for 110 volt service. Today I've charged up the 9.2 volt battery for the driver drill, but need to disassemble the drill housing and clean the contact surfaces to see if it works. Thanks to @Parm 's tip on corrosion, I looked down the battery chamber and there indeed seems to be enough to prevent things working. I'll be going to my storage unit this weekend so I'll have a look for the other Makita tools. Still looking for the Weller soldering gun tips for a couple of member's here.
Might be a bit premature in mentioning it, but I "may" still have 7.2 volt 90* angle battery operated Makita drill. Bought the kit but don't recall ever having a use for it.
The Makita chargers I've located so far are distinctly different. One is for a 7.2 volt and the other a 9.6 volt battery; both kits were purchased around the same time years ago.
Found more Makita stuff today. My first battery drill which I recall I purchased back around 1978, and the angle drill case, which contained stapling contents. Not sure about this, as we had help in packing the shipping container I sent over here, so the drill may be elsewhere ? The old 7.2 volt drill works, perhaps because a battery was not in it so no corrosion on the contacts.
Correct, the 7.2 volt one is on the left.
Had the battery in it, and there was some corrosion on the contacts which I have since removed. Attempting a battery charge, so fingers crossed it will come back to life. It has a wide angle diffuser which works by turning the knob on the side, a nice feature.
. The reason I had to replace the one that was destroyed during the strip down was to investigate the bearing failure on the output from the gearbox...........is it a common fault with them?
