What you’ll notice from my quote from Wikipedia is that the [1] at the end denotes that it has a reference which you are able to go and look up. I look forward to seeing you your references to back up what you claim - I can’t find any examples of working thorium power plants nor any studies about major hydro schemes planned for the Trent (I understand there is a small “in river” scheme in place at Beeston Weir but they don’t publish any data about the power they produce), but certainly not enough to power a large proportion of Nottingham/derby

I reckon the next ten years will see incredible developments in electric motors. And batteries. Because if they don't the upcoming ban on ICE sales will be a disaster.

An electric motorcycle with seamless, smooth, almost unlimited power could be great fun. And a switchable application mode, from absolute hooning, to miserly touring, with a few in between, would work well.

The car industry has for better or worse plumped for Lithium battery technology as it was the best available at the time, this means there is considerable inertia against possibly far more efficient tech. Aluminium air fuel cells for instance promise far higher energy density & range with far easier recyclability.
But car companies wont take it on as they have put too much money into lithium.

That is not an electric technology problem, it's a civil engineering problem. Civil Engineers have been around for thousands of years and still build underwater carparks, wobbly bridges and other mind boggling examples of idiocy. I've never understood it. It's not as if the stuff they make has to actually do anything except sit there, yet they still get it wrong, often in spectacular fashion!

How so then - do you think people haven't being working on them for the last x number of years?
Ie3 efficiencies are in the high 90s I believe - this is harder to find than you'd imagine.
Batteries and Hydrogen is the future - less batteries and more hydrogen.

I see. Yeah, motors are already very efficient, any future advancements I expect will be very marginal and be more about making them smaller and lighter rather than more efficient.

Batteries are where the innovations will come I reckon, the energy density of the best batteries today is terrible, even hydrogen is pretty bad when you compare energy per volume with petrol.

It doesn't look like Li-ion is going anywhere soon so while currently, freshly mined lithium is cheaper than recycled, I'd bet there'll be a lot of money in recycling old batteries in years to come.

Wait till new technology breaks out the scientists heads and we use aluminium and water with a bit of GM modified cannabis for the batteries .

Seriously what used to take 200years to discover is now being done in a matter of years of in a lot of cases a few months . Watch out for something as simple as electrolysis of water being done at differing levels of voltage, frequencies and being bombarded with VVHF frequencies to make it give up the hydrogen & oxygen tremendously quick frequencies to make a litre of water push your car several hundred miles . If you run out of water you can pee in the tank . It won't be perpetual motion but it will be a totally new effective way of propelling cars , truck, trains & buses etc. etc.
