Sustained high speed motorway runs kills the range, not acceleration. It takes a certain amount of energy to accelerate a mass to a certain speed. Irrespective of how long that acceleration period lasts, the required energy remains the same.

Every building that has an east ,south or west facing aspect could be used for vertical solar panels put a front glass of rolled in prisms on the front to concentrate the suns energy on to the photo voltaic cells to get the maximum out of day light hours . Add infra red voltaic cells to take advantage of the earths 24 hr.s infrared emissions . I may even with luch see such a global affecting event in my life time where oil is never to ever have us under the thumb of despots and market gamblers again .

Hmmm . . . currently it seems the worlds biggest producer of such cells is China . . . I'm not sure that's an improvement . . .

That looks great, like that a lot, I'm sure that it's electric motor will give it impressive performance etc but I'd still prefer it with a combustion engine, all these electric vehicles just feel a bit soulless to me. I must be a dinosaur, I know.

^^ It would appear not. But using it in the dead of Winter with all the other electrical things we've become used to like heater or (preferably) aircon/wipers/lights/heated seats/heated steering wheel i(if it's an option) most certainly will - oh, and not driving everywhere like Miss Daisy, even in the height of Summer, when you'll def want the aircon on.....

Am I the only one that sees electric cars the thief's target in the future with the price of batteries so high a stolen to order battery pack will be in demand more than a ratty diesel or petrol engine.

Thats a very sad outlook on life, if they follow the normal economies of scale batteries will get cheaper

Induction charging at every road junction, car park etc. Like Tesla's broadcast power, not sure how metering would work.

I would like all ground-level car parks to have solar panels above them.

1. Makes use of otherwise dead space without consuming farmland for 'solar farms'.
2. Makes slightly less ugly an already ugly view.
3. Keeps the sun, rain, tree sap off my car.
4. Close to a point of high electricity consumption - supermarket chillers.
5. Close to potential high electricity consumption - electric cars.

You forgot shade and covered walkways . I still don't understand why car parks aren't covered with panels, it's an absolute no brainer. On the same subject, warehouses and factories have huge roofs which scream solar panels in my head every time I see one!
