Reminded me of this

Have you not worked out I hate throwing stuff away and enjoy fiddling around with stuff, at least up until I actually need whatever it is to perform it’s job properly, things often then start flying in all directions.Looks nice, very well worth it when done, with new metal where R107's all go.
That Cosmo. Just get rid and treat yourself ... even if the 'treat' is a 30 year old Clarke 90.
Bugger again with the pic.
Does everyone have a slight issue with posting pics or is it just me?
Seems to work better if I wait a bit after finishing writing/pasting before posting.
Oooh, just noticed the little upload timer thingy at the top right after I pasted this one.

ThanksGood luck, it seems it’s going to be a huuuuuuuuge project
1.9 CDTi 150 w
quick, flog it before it breaks.....
Papa Johns is off our delivery list, very little in the way of toppings . We have a similar age Astra 1.7 van at work and the dampers are shot, I managed to bottom and top out the front end over a series of bumps recently they're that bad, other than that it drives well. My missus had a 2 door 2ltr SRi DTi that was a nice little car apart from the fuel economy, I struggled to get it over 50mpg on a trip to Scotland and it was even worse on cruise control. The tired Vectra 1.9 CDTi 150 we have now is far better particularly on the cruise control, I have had it up to 65mpg but that is probably down to the more modern injection system.
It is a 52 plate van (end of life - high mileage vehicle ) - it is has given you good service...
Let go...
Scrap it - get a newer one!
It is 18 years old - it it was child - it would be leaving home by now!
(it is never gonna be a classic)....
The opposite happened to me, went for the Escort it was still there minus engine and gearbox, bet it was the same mob.I have looked into the 1.9CDTI 150 Astravans but they do seem to be lot of maintenance.
The 65mpg would be an nice improvement considering the mileage I do.
With regards to classic status the 2.0 Sportive is in with a chance, and mine probably is too ((especially if everyone else is scrapping em)anything is really)
I’ve owned a few cars that were “never going to be a classic”, cortinas, MK1 MK2 and MK3 escorts and even a MK2 2.3V6 Granada with a manual box (that was a lovely motor) and they all go for stupid money now.
The MK1 1100L Escort was what I cut my teeth on, man I loved that car.
It had drum brakes all round and no servo assistance when I got it.
I had changed the front struts for 3.0 Capri ones with vented discs, upgraded the rear suspension, put a 5 speed RS500 gearbox in it (me dad done the welding to widen the transmission tunnel) had a jag rear axle, new sills and front floor pans(courtesy of dads welding skills again, it amazes me even more know what he could do with a cheap stick welder).
I never got to finish it though.
I had a 2.3V4 that I had modded hugely sitting on a test bench In the garage and was still shunting the Escort about with the 1100 engine in it.
I remember on my way to The Old Kent road one Friday night tapping her on the bonnet and “saying you’ll be sorted tomorrow” as I was planning to drop the engine in on Saturday. I’d taken the 1100 out, pushed/parked her up, left some tools in the boot which I never ever do especially in Bermondsey and put a cover over her.
When I eventually woke up on Saturday I looked out the window to see an empty parking space!
Some scumbag had nicked her with no engine in her(and me tools).
I Kinda gave up modding cars after that.
DTi's are Mitsubishi motors I think, my Vectra (which I drove in socks and sandals, hoping to meet Jeremy Clarkson)
stood up to hard work. The GM ancillaries let it down a bit..
