..................….we stopped at the Vintage Tool Shop in Stalbridge and Yandles in Martock. Got some wood to play with from Yandles and also got this lot (mostly from the Vintage Tool Shop, but the fret saw blades were from ebay and the Royal Mail):

The top edges of the plane body look like they are flat in the photo. Is it a Bedrock model ?

But they have a habit of stocking small quantities of good stuff for short periods at sensible prices, then it disappears. I learned to take their entire stock when it appears.
I don't know if our area is a test area or if my tastes differ so much from everyone else's that they stop stocking stuff locally.

Some of the stuff that I used to buy but then vanished - or reappeared at silly prices:

• Tinned Artichoke Hearts
• Tinned Celery Hearts
• Corn fed chicken
  
• Sauerkraut - but this reappeared recently in an area labelled the Polish section for some bizarre reason
• Pilsner Urquell - reappeared at eventually twice the price.
• Budweiser Budvar - as above

Worryingly Staropramen is going the same way. Each time I visit the price has gone up and it's no longer brewed in Prague. I'm fairly sure it no longer meets the Reinheitsgebot either: I imagine I detect the presence of maize.

Morris 1000, 1966 needs a good tidy up, bit of welding and a respray. Going to start stripping it tonight.

Does it have a zip across the headlining? I always look when they are that shade of blue.

I got it sight unseen. Offered it over the phone and told it sits on a table top and the blade comes up and down like on a tile cutter. Its huge! Lucky I have the space to store it. Always wanted a table saw tbh. I have a radial arm and chop saw but this'll save me keep having to go and borrow the BiLs.

I wouldn't be without my table saw, very handy bit of kit. Next week off I'm finally going to get round to putting together a cross cut sled for it. Another handy bit of kit that knight be worth looking into if you have space to store it.

No, must just be the angle of the photo: it's a Bailey. The cap iron needed a little fettling (big nick on the edge) and could do with a lot more (no where near 90° on the end) and the blade had some nicks in it that took a lot of sharpening to sort out, but it's cutting nicely now. The tool shop had a LOT of almost identical #4 planes in a row, varying in price from about £20 to about £100. This was one of several for a little over £30 that looked in good-ish nick. I don't have a lot of experience with planes, so don't really know what I'm looking for, but I'm pleased with it now it's sharpened. I haven't decided whether I can be bothered to sort out the off-square end, although it does make it quite awkward to set up. I might also replace the blade with a thicker one, which looks quite straightforward (I tried the one from my #5 and it fits fine and cuts well).

I bought this a couple of days ago, thanks to a small refund by HMRC and SWMBO letting me spend it on myself .

Its a large format 3d printer 300x300x400mm print volume. Has mains powered heated bed so warms up in less than 2 mins compared with the sometimes 20 mins on my Anet A8. I am still going to be running my Anet as it has a direct drive extruder thats works well with flexible filaments and i have got it tweaked to give good results every print.

The Tornado is printing a vase atm 220x190x330, a 27 hour print which is a huge amount of time for a vase mode print but i expected it due to the size. I will be spending the next week or two tweaking my settings so i can get it printing well.

On Friday my boss came in and said there’s a chap in the next unit that deals in old tools... that was all I needed to leg it round there and buy this roll cab and the riveter and pry bar

Katsu die grinder.
240v powered - and again (as with the burnisher) much bigger and chunkier than i was expecting.
Not used in anger, but it seems solid, and well-built- and will do the job i bought it for (removing excess weld from internal corners in angle iron).

Just need to order a pointy-cone tungsten carbide bit now...

Then I can say it is not the plane I thought it was.
Mine had the box and a nearly unused blade and irons.

I can relax now.

3" grinder is next on my list.

Katsu seems like pretty decent quality stuff:
A bit clunky, but in an "overengineered" way.
Its like, rather than spend money on stronger plastic, or more efficient motors, just make the plastic thicker, and use a bigger motor.

I have one of those Katsu die grinders. Single-speed, it's ok for quick jobs but gets rather hot rather quickly.

@Ruffian - mine came with 6mm and 1/4" collets. Check the spares bag for the other collet.

Not nearly close enough though. If you put a 6mm shank in a 6.35 collet you'll be risking it walking itself out at 12,000rpm.
