I’m looking at getting this helmet and wondering what people’s options are on it and what’s the difference between the sports modular and the sports modular mono
And how do they size on the small side or spot on

I know many do, but do not buy a bash hat with out trying it on first. No matter how good it is, if your head doesnt match the lid internals you will hate it.

Have a trip across to newcastle, go to custom lids on the TVTE.

And I like agv lids. But use a shoei as its far more comfortable for me.

Last lid I bought was a Nolan. Spent over an hour trying them on. Shoei, AGV, etc but the best fit was by far the cheaper Nolan. I once had a Shoei that was sized right but didn’t try it on. It pinched across the front of my skull and gave me headaches! I’ll never buy another lid without trying it on. Got to be patient.

I bought a Roof without trying it on. Gave me a sore bit right in the middle of my forehead everytime I used it. Try before you buy

My dad did the same with an arai he said he was gutted as for it from the bmf so couldn’t take it back

I’ve got 3 Roof RO10 lids. The most comfortable helmet I’ve worn, very quiet as well. Very high specs on crash tests. I’ve also got a Scorpion, Davida and my latest is a Shoei.

They all fit but in ever so slightly different ways. Means I choose which lid I’ll wear Depending on; weather and distance

And hair length. I can only just get my Shoei on at the mo

I used to only ride with HJC so light and comfy

they were the first with a small air curtain under the chin and had an option of the face mask like a fighter pilot one so when it rained you did fog up. It was before a time of pin locks

I would certainly be calling to make sure they will let you try a helmet on. After all whos to say the last guy didnt have Covid19, that tried it on

Try before you buy is essential with helmets. A badly fitting helmet is worse than useless. I've always been happy with the fit I get from Shoei helmets, but that may very well not be the case for you.

Plenty here saying to try before you buy and they are right on the money. And don't just pull it on to check the size. Sit for 10 mins minimum to find how the various pressure points act on yer napper. An easy mistake to make buying the wrong lid. Tried a Shoei on the basis that the Mrs loves hers and it seemed fine for a bit. After a few minutes I got this numbness and dull ache in my ears and let me tell you, I couldn't get the thing off quickly enough. It went from mildly unpleasant to bloody painful in less than a minute. If I had been on the bike at the time it could have been awful, absolutely nothing else mattered except getting it off. Not good when you are trundling along at 60.

Most folk will buy a helmet one size too big , if left on their own ,,, go to a good shop and just keep trying things on , dont worry about the brand , till you find something that fits , and usually the person selling them has a fair idea , every ones head is different , I have an AGV that was custom fitted for me , but still prefer my arai ..
Dont go down the its a AGV Shoei Arai ,etc must be great route ,, try them and see. As mentioned , wear if for ten or fifteen mins in the shop , if it leaves marks and is un comfy there ,, it will drive you crazy after a few hours with the wind beating it about too.

I bought the Shoei last yr, about 2 weeks before a 2.k trip round Scotland. It was fine on short blasts at home. However the day of the trip, I had a very sore pleb on my bonce. By the time I’d got to Scotch Corner I was ready for slinging the lid as far as I could.

I’ve not tried one of their open face flip lids. They are so popular In Europe, Roof Stopped making full face RO10’s about 10yrs ago

It’s way more than ten years since I bought one

I know I shouldn't but I have a 10year old arai chaser.
Would buy another one tomorrow but they have done the chaser v and now chaser x or something else and altered the shape so dont fit right.

I need to look for a new lid but have a old shape head.
Trying on is a must.

I have a Shoei Kwest, nice helmet, fits very comfortably, but it leaves a groove across the front of my head where my pointy bonce isn’t quite fitting right.

It doesn’t hurt, can’t even feel it, but after an hour ride the groove in my head stays there for hours.

I bought my Shoei because it was the only helmet in the shop that fitted my giant head. However, it is very comfortable and I can wear it for hours at a stretch. Apart from the groove......
