Ive got the Filmora, linked by @doubleboost downloaded and working on my laptop.

Apparently my lap top has all the "computery" things required

The games have now commenced.

Im so rubbish at computer bobbins, where's a 9 year old when you need one !!!!

I'm a bit late to the party, but I use "hitfilm express" - it's more for VFX, but seems quite usable for video editing.

Just wanted to thank @doubleboost and others for the Filmora recommendation. I needed some software quick* and remembered this thread so took a punt on it. Paid up for the full version (seemed more than reasonable compared to Adobe Premier anyway). Done a few vids to help out with remote learning at the kids school (featuring teacher missus), and I’m really getting into it.

*probably not the only one here to find themselves regularly committed to short notice projects without prior consultation by their better half, easier to just get on with it nowadays.

I used to use Filmora and it was very good, and very easy to use. But I paid the $69.99 and discovered there was no way to install the software on my replacement PC when the old one blew up. They wanted the $69.99 again, so I swore off it.

Since then (as previously mentioned) I've been using Davinci Resolve which is studio grade video editing that genuinely costs £0.00.

Sounds too good to be true, well there is a catch which is that the learning curve is extremely steep. But there's tons of tutorials on youtube and an amazing amount of "60 second how-to" guides that I go to whenever I need to learn a new thing.
I suspect it would be really easy to be put off by Resolve but it's worth spending a couple of hours on it with some tutorial vids side-by-side. Fantastic software that I actually would pay $69.99 (or more) for - amazing that it's free!

I just don't have the time brain or age to learn difficult software mate.

I went for the £30ish 1yr contract on the basis that I might outgrow it (already seeing things I can’t do - easily - and want to) or might change PC. Good value for minimised frustration.

Is there anything that can do 4k on an android phone? Basic cutting/stream copy at keyframes would be enough and avoids re encoding.

Can you point me in the direction of some simple free software that’s easy to use

I’ve been playing with 4K on my canon and have captured some good video of an industrial process ive been looking at recently.

Now it will be good if I can stitch it all together to make a short film

Bear in mind I’m a dumb ass with computers so it has to be idiot proof

You can get Resolve non studio version for free which is quite a powerful editor.

You need a cuda 2 grafix card if you are on a PC. I think most modern macs are ok.

I'm going to annoy you by saying that I have no idea whether such a thing exists

But I suspect the challenge would be rendering 4k (spitting out the output from the editor) on a phone-style device. My PC couldn't do a 4k render at all on my old £200 graphics card...

Earlier this year I asked around on here and went for Filmora. For a novice first time video editor with minimal knowledge of computers I got the hag of it very easy and produced an acceptable result.

Only to be let down by the fact it makes a water mark on the video unless you pay monies for the “free” software

Last night I downloaded the Davinci Resolve, it looks a bit more complicated than Filmora but that might be down to me being not very clever with all things computers

Hi Parm ...I am currently 'learning' resolve via many helpful youtube videos. I used Premiere Pro many years ago but I think Resolve is a better product and of course free!! Good luck with it....

Ive made that video now. Its was to demonstrate a process at a coffin manufacturer

Used Video Editor free on windows 10. Death of the windows tablet and I’m now using iMovie free on an eight year old iMac. Prefer the iMovie as can do more with that software. Just a bit of a learning curve moving away from Windows.
