I have a set of micrometer bore gauges but they don't go small enough for under 1" they come up on ebay every so often. They're better than the spring type, you don't have to transfer the size to another measuring device. If you do a lot of boring they are good investment if not the spring type are quite adequate. I use spring leg callipers and and a mic more than any other method.

I'm the opposite to you I convert everything to imperial.If it were metric then I would likely use it more but it is Imperial and I can't be ersed converting![]()
ESAB went like that once the Americans got involved and now pedal Chinese stuff no where near as good as machines they made 20 years ago.


To be honest I don’t think you can go wrong with the Lorch torches. They’re Binzel and nicely made.
