Nobody is disagreeing with @pressbrake1, but you said you didn't see the point of precision ground stones, that video explains the point of them pretty clearly.
Precision flat stones aren’t for general deburring and knocking off dings, it would wreck them.I don't see the point if you are not using a surface grinder. Most other items are perfectly fine to be stoned with an oil stone.
A lathe bed or mill bed is not going to notice small deviations. Surface grinding does.

If you’ve got a surface grinder there’s no reason not to make one and a reason to have one.
If you’re in general work and don’t have a surface grinder and have to buy a ground stone save your money
Actually I’ve got a pretty big surface grinder.
On a serious note if enough people here want them try and get a good price on some norton stones and split the cost on a diamond wheel
