Today I made my pallet truck able to lower without the use of a screwdriver.

The wee chain that operates the lowering lever was rusted solid and kept jumping off the operating lever.
I didn't know the chain ran through the pivot pin so I might have stuffed it taking it apart.
I had hoped to free it up and put it back on before I broke it.



Where to get 6mm pitch chain on Easter Saturday during lock down?

From a door closer that's where.





That's the chain and rod as it came out of the closer barrel.
No joking, you would think it was made for it and it worked perfectly after I got it back together again.

You can get a speed controller, wire it in.

Stick 4 blades on it.
Mount it on a pole.

Then you have a wind turbine.

Almost free power.

not today, but about 10 years ago I made an omlette from Creme Eggs

get some Creme Eggs, but remember that unlike me, you shouldnt put all your eggs in one basket .

so take them from a box

break into a jug

put start to melt them on a pan of boiling water

"whisk" together

until thoroughly mixed

then put in a frying pan to rest

and fold and serve

On 2mm thick stuff I just draw a line, anything over 2mm I cut a regtangle out 1mm smaller than the thickness of metal, that seems to leave a decent edge if you're welding it up.

Last night, two big holes.

Previous neighbour used concrete to secure a metpost and took ages to get through it with the sds chisel.
Also used sabre saw. Useless for most things but cuts a 5" tree root like butter!

A nice quiet few days.

Did a few good deeds, found out a future project is looking good.

Found out a another possible is looking good.

But, the weather was good, the birds were out.

So.




This wooden plane was complete, but the wedge was seized in place.
It was also caked in wax.



24 hours in the vapour tank had the wax removed. The wedge also freed off. The blade and cap iron was dressed on the wet grinder.
Yes I know I have fitted the wedge incorrectly in that image.
I have put it to use making a new hammer handle.





This Camping stove looked good and it worked.
I didn't want to go over the top in restoring this. I wanted to keep the aged look.



The burner holes were partially blocked with something.

0.8mm mig wire was perfect to clean them out. As you see a nice burn.




Cleaned up with old jeans and Brasso.
I had to re-solder some joints on the tin.
I gust of wind just caught the flame in that image.

It is a nice little tool, I rest 2mm steel plate on it and the heat warms it and it dries out small parts from the de-rusting tanks.




WD Folding wire cutters.
Both came to me in original waxed brown paper.
The only thing I can say about it is:
It burns very nicely.



The only way I found to remove the wax like residue was to boil it in laundry powder on the paraffin Betrix stove.





Both were Chemically blackened.
Then waxed with bee's wax and linseed oil.
A blob of it LHS.

Part 2.

The Valve spring compressor tool was not as it seamed.



The bolt (LHS) was striped and would only hold in a few places.
I was lucky, it was the bolt that was striped, not the internal one.

The pivot nut and blot was broken as well. The nut part being glued in with what looked like 2 pack metal filler.
The bolt had 3mm into the side, so it would move.
Any force and it would slip



Rebuilt.
New adjusting bolt, UNC and I hand filled a dome on the end to sit in the adjusting cup.

The hinge bolt was earmarked to be turned into razor blades(Scrap pile)
Then Blackened and waxed.
Yet to be used.



I was on a role, so this was pulled from a pile of things.

Please note the tin of paint.



The handle was replaced from another dead hammer shaft.
New rivet as well.
And a wonderful colour.



I also made fire, look at the bottom you can see fresh alloy flowing out. No forced air was needed.



A Blob, a heavy shiny blob.



A clean burn, apart from one bit of wood.
An off cut from the old shaft that was used to re shaft the fork.

That lot was done with the Frost Blackening kit.
The 3 part one.

I have yet to use the Gun Blue yet on a project.
