lack of motivation

Feel for you chap. I am hoping that's what my wife has got. Just waved to her as the ambulance took her away

So I am also suffering a lack of motivation just now.
My gut it telling me if Cov 19 was not about she would have been seen by a doctor much quicker and her sats would not be so low.
My heart is saying we just don't know.

OMG hope she is ok.
A mate is in a similar position. His mother has been in hospital a few weeks - she is doing ok but nobody is allowed to visit.

Well all my plans for today went out of the window. Been ill for 2 weeks or so. Keeping well away from people. Felt better a few days ago. Went to the warehouse yesterday with no staff in. Over did it in the cold.
Today I got out of bed - felt like crap - then slept all day on the settee - something I NEVER do. Feel bit better now. Wish they would hurry up and get those testing kits out.

well today never happened 2 wet and cold would have cut the grass and done a bit of tidying up if it was dry and warmer it does make you feel better when the sun is shining and a bright day . see what tomorrow brings take the dog out later a few cans of lager watch u tube and on here then bed

Start a row with the missus..give the pair of you an Adrenalin shot then you can relax. spent half the day today tee-cutting my tool boxes (i kid you not) and tomorrow is saved for polishing the contents and dismantle and grease the ratchets

I have just had a call from the hospital to ask for my wife's meds and doses as there are two A4 pages of them.
Seems like you definitely do not need a cough to have Covid 19.
Chest x-rays have shown a little pneumonia though so they have not diagnosed anything for certain yet.

So my motivation is in freefall just now and I was ironically watching
a YouTube video that claims we are being lied to as the phone rang.

Wow....

Hope the news is good for the wife mate..and look after yourself too

For anyone dealing with depression or mental health problems I've just put this up on the 'supporting member's thread.

I know I can be a bit silly but this is serious, as follows:

Guys and lasses,

Mental health problems can affect us all, I'm glad we're mature enough to discuss it openly.

I think already if you've bought it out into the light/public/forum that's an excellent start.

You need to talk and work through these things, just bottling up is counter productive.

I'm no psychiatrist, and being on a welding forum, most people arent, however their is an amazing bunch here, just sympathy and understanding goes along way.

Talk to people, look for specialist help if required, start with your GP, maybe. Don't be afraid to ask for second opinions.

I was utterly stressed 5 years ago after I lost my best mate and other circumstances, people telling you to chill out, is like telling a depressed person to cheer up.

This is the 21st century, these problems are no longer taboo.

Seek help, and take care,we'll do whatever we can.

I am ill like this almost every winter. In a way I wish it was Corona and I get clear so I can go out and party

I stayed up late last night watching tv shows and having a laugh with mates and family all over the world on skype and whatsapp so i didn't get up till mid day but then i got into DIY mode and painted the rest of a room with the Bedec paint i had ordered, Still have bits to do and a few handles to put on but i am going to make a bed tomorrow if i have the right bits.

i managed some floor joists and noggins full intention to do more, tidied the drive mind.

tomorrow is a new day, its the no routine that has killed my mojo

As = Activity Alleviates Anxiety, which translates to "Do something".

Very true, and it does work, the hard part when suffering with anxiety and depression is the motivation to do anything in the first place, kind of a catch 22 situation.

I've struggled with it (anxiety) for just under 4 years now, was totally blindsided by it and found myself in a very bad place, thankfully I'm now the strongest I've been, and well kitted out (mentally) to deal with the situation we currently find ourselves in. Dread to think how I would be in this current situation had it been as bad as it was during the worst part (winter 2017). Anxiety itself can be exhausting but what can also be exhausting is the constant doing things to alleviate it, and as soon as you stop doing stuff it immediately returns. Distraction is good, but can also be bad.

The best method for it is just acceptance, this is how I'm feeling and it's ok, no beating yourself up, no whats or whys. Just sit with it.

If you're happy you're happy, no baggage with that. However if you're unhappy, depressed, anxious, lethargic whatever there is always a load of mental baggage with it, I should be doing X,Y,Z.... why am I feeling like this.... Why can't I get motivated to do this.... why am I feeling rubbish... what can I do to make myself feel better...I wish I wasn't feeling like this... I should, would or could... Drop the baggage and accept it, know it will pass easier said than done I know. Once you've mastered that you will be in a much better place.

Accepting the mind as it is, good or bad, is the key.

A simple piece of advice given to me was when you get up make the bed, that way if you do nothing at all for the rest of the day you have done something. Small thing but effective.

I'm doing the Joe wickes PE workout every morning, I feel like a right berk doing it (it's aimed at kids for those that don't know) but it is helping massively in keeping the moral up Mental health is physical health, physical health is mental health.

Just spoke to my wife She still sounds knackered but said she feels a little better so fingers crossed
No update on what's made her ill as yet .
