When I lived in Perth in about 1990 there were loads but in Carnoustie just 40 or so miles away I had never seen one, now they are seen here and are increasing in numbers.

Finally, finished off the plasterboarding in our bedroom, I'd planned to fit wooden c section round the door frames to our his n hers walk in wardrobes, but seeing as every hardware shop is shut and would have cost in the region of 60 quid, I was reticent. So yesterday I whacked some 76mm strips of plasterboard round the internal door frames, and podged, then today sanded, only I forgot to turn the vacuum on, before I realised, I couldn't see from one side of the room to the other. It then took me 40 minutes to Hoover the room before I dare tell Wifie what id I'd done. Oh well, bedding changed, looks good for a complete amateur I think.

Oh, that's where I put a plug hole in the wrong place, I thought you were referring to the 'slight' gap around the beam.

Was meant to be away for a few days, so Took some bits with me to clean it up.
But, due to one thing and another I didn't do it when I was away.
Ok. I took a short cut and painted the handle before I left.
So, instead off Brasso and a rag, it was a buffing wheel.

Been in the Bat Cave all day and making barrels again. Well, not strictly true, I have the barrel blanks and I am profiling and chambering them for quite a longish list of gun builds.
This is one I do as a special order, very lightweight carbon fibre pre-stressed AR-15 barrel in .22 rimfire for one of the practical shooting lads:
Thought I would show you how I set up for chambering. I use a "range rod" to get the centre line of the barrel true to the centre of the spindle. This is a rod with an accurately ground bush on one end, I have a selection of them for different calibres, the rod is held firmly in the tailstock and I take two measurements jiggling the barrel at both ends of the spindle:
I use two clocks, both tenths and I will accept half a thou but no more:
Usually takes me a good half hour before I am happy and ready to start to cut the chamber, sometimes longer and if I can't get it right I just stop, do something else and then come back to it later.

Carbon fibre barrels, didn't know they existed, how do they compare with use? I mean do they wear internally?
