A tidy locker on the trailer, after fitting the shelf I made last weekend:




Straps and ratchets sorted, main lifting slings and shackles within easy reach, and the wander lead for the steering axles safely out of harms way . Also fixed the most annoying air leak I've ever experienced after I changed a dodgy 4mm pipe connector under the driver's seat. No more laying in bed at night listening to the air draining away and getting annoyed with the previous drivers who couldn't be bothered to look after the wagon . Chuffed to bits at getting stuff sorted, just 2 more minor leaks under the cab to fix, and 1 under the gaiter on the gear stick range change switch which has "entertaining" written all over it .

Some of my old muckers at GCS Johnson heavy haulage at Barton Park had been at it for 4 hours trying to get 2 big modular 300 ton rigs out of their yard, not helped by lorry "drivers" abandoning lorries at the services and clogging the road up...

Hadn’t realised they were your former employer, had some dealings with them in the early 80’s - they subbed for us doing Case skid steer loaders when I was at Poclain, even pinched one of our drivers!

Today i went on another trek out and cam back with the Denbigh donkey saw and 5 builders sand bags of timber for a mate with a log burner round the corner and various trolleys.

I've been watching a guy on tube called DSSHOOTER ....doing an engine rebuild but with some really nice ideas on how to assess all the various parts.

He did an oil pump test in a bucket with a drill on the end of the pump to assess and adjust the pressure....quiet clever.

Took some bits of an old broken chopsaw to the scrapyard, all of £1.40s worth, had a wonder round as always and spotted this, it still pumped the horrible emulsified contents out of it so did him a swap. Cleaned out and good as new now.

No it’s still in the corner feeling unloved.

A leak from my compressor, the unloader valve fitting has wheezed its last.

And a £10 addition to my credit card bill for a replacement. And I'm glad I could get one, a replacement pressure switch was listed at £100+.

And today, less than 24hours after this post, I acquired a non leaking compressor.

an empty dremel. and a working car...

the dremel is empty of the magic smoke. burnt out trying to cut nuts off the volvo droplink.

and a working car: new driveshaft fitted.
90 minutes to jack up the car and change the driveshaft.
nearly 3 hours to change the droplink.
and thats NOT including getting the replacement (which i ordered a couple of days ago and arrived just as i finished hacksawing the last bit off)


driveshaft cost me £40. droplinks £12 for a pair.
i had the other side driveshaft done last year - including the droplink- and it cost me £500!!!

i've ordered myself a proxxon dremeloid, and a set of nut-splitters, out of what i saved: i was quoted £160 +£40 deposit on old driveshaft from the local motor factors, so budgeted £200.
I'm still £50 up.

But Scotland is rising.
This is happening all over the Europe land.
It is all due to the last ice age. The weight pushed down the tetonoic plate. So, now it is returning to the old balance point.

How many eco queen's have taken that into account.

Scotland is rising because most of the Scots are down south, Kent, Surrey, Sussex, on the subject of eco queens, why is Greenland called Greenland? because it was green a while ago!

why is Greenland called Greenland? because it was green a while ago!

Or the accepted reason is this.
The name Greenland comes from Scandinavian settlers.

In the Norse times, it is said that Erik the Red was exiled from Iceland for murder.

He set out in ships to find land rumoured to be to the northwest.
After settling there, he named the land Grfnland (Greenland), possibly to attract more people to settle there and start a new colony.

That could set out and raid Iceland, Ireland, and the Northern reaches of Norway.
