Yesterday [it's close] I acquired a selection of drive screws to replace the rusted upholstery tacks I had used to fix the "Grumpy Old Man's Club" notice on the cave - thanks to @hotponyshoes for the trouble he went to

Here's a before........you can see how grotty those tacks look



Sadly, as the Scottish Bard said "The best laid plans o' mice and men gang aft agley" and it proves to be the case here. Between showers I removed the plaque to find that the tacks have marked and slightly damaged the corners so the hammer screw idea won't cut it. I'll just have to replace like with like and try to keep them waxed [or something], replacing as necessary.

Sometimes you're the dog, others the tree...... If that was all there was to worry about!

Thanks for the offer, but you need somewhere to keep those lumps of HSS. I upgraded to some nicer compasses for drawing, still have the old ones from school for garage use!

Three Locks, just down the road from us, judging by the eating experiences of people posting on Trip Advisor, you got the most edible bits of it. Used to be good, as per the Globe Inn, also on the Grand Union and just down the canal/road from the Three Locks, that too has gone downhill. If you're in the area and looking for fine dining (or indeed a decent pub meal) avoid both.

Found some old car and workshop manuals on a free local site

This nicely made Sass abs Belle small suitcase was left in my shop when the toy people left so i gave it to my neice but first it needed a coat of clear laquer as she wants to add a few travel stickers

This might be put into use and empties every year to pay towards tools

I have just acquired one of these. I'm fitting downlights throughout the house for the old fella so thought i would save myself the heartache of measuring out on the ceiling and using a chalkline. Its a dream using this, such a clear laser line.
