a stairlift for £10.50, ebay, what a complicated thing, German, Thysen, hoping to use the motor on my bead roller, not found it yet! as this model went up, then flat, then up again there is a second motor to tilt the seat, all looks useful, the steel tubes also look soooooooo useful but for what? will probably end up in a Dinosaur sculpture!

Not guilty.

Did a credible impression of a "Daf out of Hell" up the A1 after tipping in Hayes on Friday morning, hit Scunthorpe at 12.00 and loaded 22 metre rail and I've been here since then. I think mine is the only Daf hiab wagon on the fleet, there's a couple of "flat" Dafs, but all the other hiabs are Scanias.

The cab is well stocked as always, but they leave a few Caddy vans here for the drivers to use, so I braved the Tesco Extra down the road. Sadly, just as I got there, so did 98% of the population of Lincolnshire . Not sure I've ever muttered "FFS!" so many times in one afternoon . Had a busy morning on the jetwash blasting away years of accumulated filth and grease, and there's actually a good looking wagon underneath it all. Roll on 11 o'clock tonight when I can get this rail delivered to the wilds of Wakefield, then back up north to 4String Towers for a lazy Sunday, roast beef and Yorkshires for dinner followed by a couple of beers and a snooze in front of the log burner .

A Vauxhall Crossland bonnet. Brand new, primed.

It came from the factory too damaged to repair, Vauxhall told us to scrap it, I figured I will get some useful sheet out of it.

They will - but they were free so I can live with it. When I've finished melting I mean welding them they'll still have the same scrap value too

If anyone would like a couple of dozen and willing to come and collect them I'll take the trouble to bring some more home and they can collect them for free. I may well have some heavy ally u-channel and angle to sell too in the near future.

A free Telefix fork brace that was stuck on an old pair of forks I acquired 20 years ago.
Turns out it's the same spacing as the ones I'm using, so quite usable. Some monkey had attempted to unclamp it, but simply wrecked the Allen headed bolts, so it took a bit of heat and the careful adjustment stick applied to a 30 Torx bit to get them out.

All the threads survived, so that's a relief.
Need to get some caphead bolts now, as I'm very short of them.

managed to strip the stairlift down to the basics, will try to cut the big alloy casting so I have two motor / gearbox assemblies, not sure it is possible, 24v but had them running on 12v and they run at very low rpm, like 5rpm, so well engineered, the main drive has an epicyclic gearbox and an electric brake,

Bearing in mind that it's a 35 ton/metre 4 extension crane, which is teeny-tiny compared to my old 60 ton/metre 8 extension crane, she managed a creditable 2980 kg rail crossing at full stretch this week. No idea what she's good for close in, haven't had the chance to try her out yet.
