Do you realise how long that took me to organise and set up such an off the cuff post?

It is a Seaman's rigging set knife.
It would go alongside a metal Marlin Spike in a leather holster. normally worn on left hand side.
I should dig mine out.

Christmas present was a Hapstone V7 knife sharpener. Only just had the chance today to have a go with it on an old kitchen knife.
It is a cheap kitchen and setting it upon the sharpener and with the angle gauge I thought i was doing something wrong as both sides of the primary grind had different angles, only by a few degrees but it was repeated onto the secondary grind, which explains why it was never very sharp or able to keep an edge. I decided to regrind the secondary to 11 degree each side, which took a bit of time but not much effort. Progressing through the 200, 400 and 1200 stones that it came with I got a lovely even grind along the length of the blade with a distinctive burr to remove. The edge was a nice paper slicing sharp , which I’ve never to achieve with it before. The edge and secondary grind is nice even on either side but unfortunately slightly different depths due to the primary grind angles not being equal.
I think I’ll practice a bit more before going onto the Global kitchen knives and some of my favourite folders.

Recently decided to buy a sheet of opinel knives (4xno6 4xno7 4xno8) to play with to see what would work best for my hand size and something to keep me out of trouble whilst the mrs is watching her soaps.
So dont some handle modifying at the moment and making them more user friendly.

Just a quick update with the knife Kent made. Still performing very well. The edge is super, very very easy to hone. Over a hundred deer gralloched with it and only given it a very light hone a couple or three times. Made a couple of suggestions to make it an even better knife, which Kent has taken onboard and implemented. The great news is Kent can’t make them fast enough to satisfy demand.

The fencing is about the only thing that hasn’t fallen apart this week at our house. Boilers packed in, laptop screen hinges snapped, cars away for repair, dogs been ill. Just waiting for someone to top it off and drop a piano on me or soemthing

@Migmac I'm surprised not to see (unless I missed it) a swing blade style knife in your inventory?
Although given the number you gralloch you probably see less of a benefit than the handful I deal with on an annual basis. Last season after having a go with a friends I ordered an Outdoor Edge one and find it very good. It's not as quick as my Mora to clean but a swing blade will never be, but it's actually not that bad.
Personally though I'd prefer it if it were two folding blades as I like to keep everything in my jacket or rifle when I'm out on the hill. The knife is a little too long for comfort in the pockets. Could put it on a belt I suppose but don't tend to like having stuff there, usually because I have a piece of climbing accessory rope as a belt...

No swing blades for me, like a fixed bladed knife for gralloching. Never had a fixed blade knife fold on me yet I carry all my gear in a bum bag. My bowland blade knife is fastened on to that
