Forgot to take pics of most of the bits I did today but I did remember to take some of the steering joints I made.
Top plates came out of a bit of Alu Bronze, think it was about £260 for the 300mm x 300mm x 6.5mm piece shown below.

The completed rod ends with an additional 4 top plates, thought I might as well make them seeing as the machine was set up and I will be needing some later on in the year.

Always liked stick welding stainless, always found it fairly easy as well.
These Esab rods are nice though, no start porosity with them at all and these ones were from an opened pack that has been in the back of the car for 6 months.
Not sure what number they are though, will try and remember to look next time I am at the workshop but I will be working away on the Cat the next few days so might not remember

Some more progress.
The aft, tilting section of the table completed, rope guides altered to fit the new shaped table and an extra curve put in, previously there were only 2 rope guides.

Roller system was started, first off was scribe and cut then weld the sides.

Then the side fixing plates and the front section (8mm 5083) and the lower plate to hold the bottom of it in place.

A close up of the vertical weld, just love pulse Migs, this is a breeze and although I used to do it all the time with a standard Mig it was just a lot more tricky.

Then the roller was lifted back out so that I could fit a sloping plate to guide mud and stones out through the slot in the side plate.

Got the roller refitted and the gunwale cap at the correct height for the table and a bit of angle welded in which is the first part of the table frame.

That roller is proper smart.

It is the 3rd I have done of that style and I am adding small improvements each time. The first one I just cut some holes in the aft side plate to let the mud/stones etc out but even with the skipper putting the deckwash hose in it still smells ripe on a hot sunny day
The next one I put the slot in the side plate and the blanking plate below the roller, it works well and stops the muck getting any lower but it still needs flushed out with the hose.
This one I have lowered the slot and now have the blanking plate at a slope so hopefully the water running off the ropes will flush the mud and stones out automatically, that's the theory anyway

On my way up to the Cat this morning I stopped in at the workshop to pick up a few things and took a few snaps of the next Cat I will be fitting out.
This one is not a Cheetah but rather a Twinseas.

Never seen one at sea but I am not struck by the looks of them, they are too high for my liking and I am not keen on the hull shape either.

They are about half the price of an equivalent Cheetah from what I have been told but the fit and finish of them is not in the same league so it is understandable.
The pods don't have drain holes so water will constantly sit in there.

The hole under the stern which cables and pipes will come through to go to the engine have not even been trimmed and will rip your hands open never mind the fuel pipes and electric cables.

The young lads were adamant that they wanted a davit rather then a roller system but 3 years on and with working further offshore in much deeper water they are now realising that their uncle had the right idea with the roller system

They also wanted the table going flat instead of a ramp so it had to go between the engines and thus narrow down. The skipper asked me if I knew why he had decided to do it that way as he couldn't remember but neither do I, in fact I don't think I ever did know, he just said that was the way he wanted so he got it that way.

The second to last Cat I fitted out, just last year, is owned by the youngest brother and he has already decided to order a new one as he now sees the benefits of a roller system and the wheelhouse design he got will not really allow one without major surgery. They didn't listen to their uncle when he told them to get a roller and now they are regretting it

Yes it's an incredibly popular game famous for horribly blocky low-res graphics. One of those 'so bad, it's good' things. Youtube is full of hollering morons posting daily videos of themselves and raking in a fortune just wandering around a low-res world making screeching noises down the mic
