you can get the wireless baseplates for them just power them up with mains anywhere in the house and both go off if.one is activated . here https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Produc...MI8OuD1s3O5gIVQrDtCh2BbgmwEAQYASABEgLuRfD_BwEWill get one of those RCD sockets in case ‘soon’ becomes longer than anticipated.
The mention of a home fire detection ‘system’ has my curiosity - we’ve just got normal battery detectors but it would be great to have a central alarm linked to all the detectors.
On another subject they’re all over my grandmothers house but she can’t hear them (or pay any attention if they flash or vibrate, all that is in place) - it would be great to have something that would set an alarm off elsewhere. Might speak to the fire brigade on that one.

The manufacturers were forced to recirculate the hot air to save energy! The old models were far safer - hot air straight out of the back. Removed more fluff - dried clothes faster AND far safer as nowhere for the fluff to accumulate.
yes providing there is a permanent feed in it. live and neutral then you can wire 3 core and earth between the detectors if easily enough to get to each other and if not use the wireless bases. its best taking the feed of the local lighting circuit as against the old way on there own circuit so if that circuit goes down the detectors chirpThanks, I’ve been having a look - a minefield of choice. I need perhaps 4 in the house, one being a combined carbon monoxide detector and 2 adjustable heat type. I think this is the sort of thing I’m best giving the various suppliers a call about, I’ll get lost investigating online.
Can the mains ones be wired to a ceiling rose somehow?
direct to mains via there own wire
there is no need to go back to the board using mains battery backup smokes . as I said it needs to go on the local lighting circuit the regs were changed about 10 years ago .It would be possible to get back to the board if necessary, I left a few lengths of empty conduit in place for some unforeseen eventuality. But off the lights would be easier. I don’t understand lighting circuits (at least the ones in my house) so will get someone in for that. Thanks.
You don't need to worry about that one, its something occasionally used in IT installations.Functional earth?
Mine is on its own dedicated circuit breaker in the consumer unit. It terminates inside a connector block within the actual unit . In the event of a power cut it has a back up recharging battery inside it too to keep the system honest & live .Thanks, I’ve been having a look - a minefield of choice.
