I made a chip guard for my lathe, from plywood. Still gonna paint it and get some kind of tool holder system and what not in place, maybe install a LED light strip or something under the top.

Finished the log store with some mesh across the bottom, and put some scrounged firewood in to dry before being cut up:

Is that sawn up dunnage? I used to work for a haulage co in Hampshire and we often backloaded out of Sheerness steel, the dunnage there was 4” square oak, the drivers always picked up a piece or two extra for my wood burner.

A repair on a 1930s Alvis 6 cylinder engine out of a historic racing car.
Something had punched a hole in the block, and a few holes with stripped threads wanted filling up so they could be drilled and re-tapped.
But the worst job is soldering on some wedge shaped washers for an oil flow and return fitting that the client has added. No room for a weld and the client wanted the heat kept to minimum as other blocks welded in this location have been known to fail.
Trying to get this thing up to temp in the oven, then carry it into the shop in time to get the solder on before it cools too much was a challenging afternoon.

The Grinder is an Erbauer one from Screwfix & my Welder is a Clarke 150 Turbo

Certainly is.
Last time I Ioaded out of Sheerness, their dunnage was 6" trees that had been trimmed on two opposite sides. Still had the bark on and weighed about 1cwt each . Our flat lorries seem to be doing lots of steel out of Hartlepool which needs 6x6 timbers, but we provide them, for some reason , and it might be noticed if I go home on a Friday with a couple of them strapped to the roof of my van. One of our customers loads their product on 3' lengths of 4x4, which end up in great piles in our depot, so I make sure that any I bring back go straight into the van .

I have no shame where keeping warm is concerned, and I'm more than happy to rummage through skips for any untreated wood. It's even easier in this day and age now that all waste has to be separated, it's a simple matter to look in the wood skip, followed by a nosey in the metal skip, as you do . Given the job, and the ability to carry lots of loot, I should be able to keep us in firewood without paying for it, although I don't mind paying for a lump of holly at Christmas, if I can get one. The flames are truly gorgeous, looks like a methane derived flame.

That is some nice work there. Bet the customer is going to be chuffed salvaging a block like that.

Not pretty but il be fed up with it next year and make something else to suit.

Gonna rack the van in segments for that reason. Gives me time to play around and see what works

Finally roof top is done up to the front concealed gutter.
Skylights in, not proud to admit i carried them up the ladder on my own bloody frightening.




And its bloody flat i take alot of care in getting it like this.

The contents might though, in the event of 'irresistible force meets immovable object'.
A local woman used to drive around in a big, old Merc with a couple of large stones on the rear parcel shelf, used to anchor a travel rug for her pooch on the back seat.

You could see the penny drop when I pointed out that, if she was in a crash, those stones would still be coming forward at 40/50/60 mph, possibly taking the top of her head off in passing.....
