Today I acquired...........

Seem to be buying a lot of hose clips lately....its turned into a bit of an obsession but re-hosing 3 cars means I seem to really get through them very quickly. I refuse to put those awful wire clips onto new hoses....they really cut into the rubber and can do alot of damage I think.

This is my latest set....£15 inc the nice jubilee flexi driver too. I find the older clips seem to be alot better made so whenever I see them for sale I tend to get them in.

Oooh you sod, I’ve been wanting one of those for ages.

Sheer chance, I have looked everywhere for one of a small size, reasonable price and good capacity. Such an animal does not exist and I had resigned myself to going down to Chester Machine tools open week next week and buying one of their multi purpose machines. Went to see my cousin last Thursday and he was showing me his new Horizontal Borer. Very niceI said but what I need is a small folder and guillotine. Oh, think I have one in the shed. And here we are.
Next up to find a small guillotine. Small chance of that as I just cannot find one, anywhere. Not of reasonable capacity anyway.

I will however need to make a stand, of substantial material and rigidity.

No, I sold it and the guy thats bought it took a few bits off it so he can start the resto. Gets collected tomorrow, thats been one hell of a truck.

A surface grinder, been under a tarpaulin for 10 years. The bellows are intact so under the grime there's quite a nice machine. Ignore the half-stripped state, the only thing I can find is missing is the reflector for the lo-volt lamp.

Needless to say you won't recognise it as the same machine by the time I've done with it.

A surface grinder, been under a tarpaulin for 10 years. The bellows are intact so under the grime there's quite a nice machine. Ignore the half-stripped state, the only thing I can find is missing is the reflector for the lo-volt lamp.

As mentioned above, ww1 (suspected 1915 actually) pioneers chainsaw with leather pouch, not sure pouch is original but seems to fit, also not sure on handles would have expected it to have removable handles to make easier to store.

Post WW1, crow foot gives it away.
The do come out, I guess they are seized in place. Soak a rag in Linseed oil and bees wax mix and let soak, then a short, sharp tap will a mallet should see them free.

@mrsbruce will be able to advise on the leather care.

The teeth are hardened, after the edge is sharpened, but any burs show be removable. Soak it in clean engine oil and dry.

Those were supplied as part personal kit, easy to find out, the case will have 4 slots in to take a belt or webbing strap.

Case could be older, maybe ex war stoke brought back out to be used.

They are a good bit of kit, even today.
Mr PC plod do like you carrying them in public.

Why would crows foot make it post ww1? The crows foot has been used prior to ww1, (not doubting just intrested), I think the handles are replacements as the tooth to ring link is slightly bent, and the teeth are sharp as it's been slightly restored by the charity I bought it from.

We surely can, I have a whole load of projects to bring along this month and this'll be one of them. Just FYI it's a Mk3 Eagle grinder with coolant trough and 8" wheelhead.

I am guessing the first job will be to remove the sliding table for its journey into your workshop from the looks of it.

Yeah it needed a bit of lube but slid right off in the end. We took the knee off complete and man-handled the base & column into my van.

How big a capacity do you need, and what thickness? Surprisingly there’s quite often guillotines on Facebook marketplace at reasonable amounts
