NEC Classic car show

I’ve been an exhibitor there and a a visitor. Neither are cheap.
You have to pay for parking even as an exhibitor. Unless you can get parking round the back; not sure if they clamp you now.

It would need to be something special for me to pay those prices now

If there where only 2 cars on the whole M6 i would not go looking at those prices...this sort of thing used to be the working mans cheap day out, not anymore ime afraid

I had no intention of going, but a mate of mine asked if I fancied a day out on Friday.

Ticket prices are steep, parking is either £12 at NEC or £9 at a nearby NCP, between 2 of us - I can just about live with that.

I've never been before, so although it seems pricey its not something I'm going to be doing every year. Taken as a whole day I guess it's not that bad, I guess you could certainly pay as much for things like football match/motor racing/etc etc

I'm not sure I could afford to go as a family mind, at those prices (Not that my missus/daughter have any interest in this kind of stuff anyway, fingers crossed for the boy when he gets a bit older...)

When I was involved in organising exhibitions we could get an "inner area pass" that allowed us to park near the halls.

Yeah I’ve had the passes, didnt stop the inhouse parking wardens hounding you at every opportunity.

Any regular show goers got any tips on what to see or things worth seeking out??

I have been invited by Xtreme Plasma as a guest
Taking the wife and stopping Saturday night
No way would I pay those prices

I was with them on Friday afternoon, really friendly and helpful bunch, will probably be pressing the button on one soon, only downside is the waiting list, currently 3 months and growing

He asked how I heard about them, gave you a mention and they said you were joining them at the NEC

Just sent three cars up there keep an eye out for my bosses mk2 sprite, an a35 sitting low and scrapes everywhere and a big healey in red I think, we have god knows how many in the same colour and spec

Yeah, but nearly all of them dissolved in the rain. Cannot be many left.

Price on entrance is very off putting . As said my son and myself entrance , food , drinks etc 100 big ones .

I only live in Solihull town so 15 min drive. Should go on train maybe stop crying and just go etc. For all that go enjoy.

Was on M42 this morning and lovely to see show cars been driven to the nec.

Spent a day and a half at the show
Never got to see it all
Met some very interesting and talented people
I was amazed by the fact that i used to do warranty work on many of the "classics"
Food and drink were ex-torsion
I have some decent video

Food hall large coffee was £3 which is really not that bad compared to what you’d pay in high street at Costa etc.

A hot dog (albeit a large one made with a sausage that tasted of actual meat) was £6 which was a bit eye watering! Although expensive I guess it’s about the going rate for food at events, I actually thought the coffee was fairly reasonable all things considered.

I always take my own food & drink with me to such events, apart from the cost it's the waiting to be served that's an issue.
