Today was a trip down to local scrap yard, Managed to get some great bits of steel for my a few projects.
Might seem like nothing to most people but this is really nice stock with length so i can cut it down to correct sizes unlike most of my tiny offcuts.
Dont know why the pictures are so big but 30cm steel rule for scale. And the hard job of fitting it into the car.
15 Quid cash is all it cost. At scrap price of 35p per kilo

Put up a door bell push the other day for a neighbour, took 15 or 20 mins. He said halfway through he had a few old tools for me. Anyway tonight i came in and these were here for me. A Black and Decker sander and a Parkside, with a long homemade extension lead. The Parkside one is a whopper, massive, the B&D one is the same as the one i had before and got years out of it.

Scored a set of Draper deep impact sockets, just because.
I was going to get a set of cheapy ones, but it turned out by the time I'd paid postage the cheap ones would be the same overall cost anyway.
Not bothered either way, as I found none of the hokey cheap shorty sockets that come with the dagga guns have ever broken, so I suspect what little quality there is in them is bolstered by the thickness.

I have one of those parkside sanders & it's great on horizontal surfaces due to its weight but not so nice on vertical stuff! Take care when using it, when you push down the front handle it speeds up!
A few lengths of “engineered oak” t+g floorboards that were destined for the skip, courtesy of the nice man who owns the house where I’m currently lifting some gorgeous oak trusses in place for his new extension. A couple of the short lengths are earmarked for a platform on the truck to hold a freshwater tank, and the rest have “very nice shelves” written all over them

Its only about 55cm tall, you’d get a motorcycle spring in it but probably nothing for a car.

On my travels today I went to see my old mate @julianthegypsy, haven’t seen him for a year or two. He’s got a neat little workshop in the Cotswolds and makes a crackling line of specialist products, too modest to post up his work
Anyway I acquired two things, a good chat with an old mate, sorry I couldn’t stay longer fella, stroppy teenagers had to go to the shops
And I acquired this
