Try getting to the centre point on the boat, it helps reduce the pitching/rolling effects if things get choppy, a bit of a gimball effect.

And, the best part of today, I’ve acquired a paid weekend to Shetland.
Parked near Arbroath tonight awaiting tomorrow when a Scottish haulier is bringing me a sectional phone mast on our short body. Great piece of kit, you drop the trailer then with the crane you lift the body and sit it on 4 twistlock posts, (same as shipping containers sit on), that are part of the subframe for the crane, and it turns the artic unit into a short wheelbase rigid lorry. Superb for accessing very tight sites, makes the rig ultra versatile.
And even better, the installation is on Monday, but Sunday’s overnight ferry from Aberdeen is full, so I’m on tomorrow night’s ferry, which gives me most of Sunday to indulge in birdwatching and whisky drinking. And Monday night’s ferry back to Aberdeen is full, so I get most of Tuesday to play out as well
Thus, I admit to being a happy chappy today
This will only be my second visit to Shetland.
The first was a couple of years back and was just an “overnighter” when I dropped some kit off at a subbies yard and was back at Lerwick before dinner time, so I’m looking forward to having a bit more time this weekend. Had I have known in advance I’d have put my scuba kit in the truck, but it went in for service and MOT this week and I had to strip all my gear out so they could tilt the cab over safely, and putting it back is even worse
.
Thankfully I remembered to put my old walking boots and my binoculars in, so I’ll hopefully get some birdwatching in, and probably be up as it’s coming light tomorrow morning for some cetacean spotting as the ferry approaches Lerwick. And if I’ve offended the Weather Gods, the fridge is full of good food, I have the aforementioned bottle of Tullibardine and I picked up a new Clive Cussler novel last night.
