Used engine won't come with injectors.
I had a MK4 Golf TDI estate for 5 years. Loved it, it was a great car. Was a little tatty in the end but still a really good car.
Economical, comfy, pretty powerful, reliable, big boot. Obvious downsides: interior did have squeaks and rattles, slight rust on wings and tailgate, it was 15 years old so occasionally needed bits of work.
They'd come in well under budget (I paid 4k 5 years ago, they're under £1,500 now ) and i wouldn't hesitate to have another.
Strangely, the A6 wagon i have now is the size of a small cruise ship yet the boot is no bigger than the Golf's.

erm... since I personally replaced my own, and have seen several sets replaced on 1.6's... they ARE BOSCH and they are genuine bosch reman. They are sold as "new" on an exchange basis through the likes of euro car parts.
coding new injectors in is not that bad a job. it takes 5 min with the right tool.
You're right on the price though - some of them are around £1600 for a set depending on who you buy from.

The 1.6 Audi engine in question is fitted with VAG 03l130277b Siemens CAYA 1.6 Tdi units.
It has Siemens injectors not Bosch - this is fact.
The 2.0CR VAGS are all Bosch injection. The 1.6's are a mix of Bosch and Siemens - the Audi will be Siemens. You are wrong...
Strangely most VW 1.6 Caddy engines have Siemens injectors - these are not interchangeable either - the pulse from the ECU drivers is different - I have scoped it - to see if I could come up with a cheaper fix before.
There is no exchange option for these Siemens injectors - there was - but they were withdrawn off the market - due to stacking piezo problems. These are not coil induced injectors - they are special stacked peizo plates - when voltage is induced the plates expand and there is hydraulic action - which lets the standyne type nozzle let go. Nobody yet has - successfully remanafactured them to a good enough quality to keep selling them without problems - several have tried...
I run and own a garage mate... We are quoting out and replacing up to a dozen sets of injectors here every week. This is "not my first rodeo" - when pricing jobs up - we have to be accurate with what cars are fitted with - what the costs are - because if not we would go bankrupt. Customers cannot - will not except a £1k estimate then come back to a completed £2k repair bill.
Also we stopped selling - real cheap Carwoods exchange injectors supplied by Euros - years ago - due to poor quality and lots of warranty claims. Also Euros were one of the first to pull the plug on Siemens exchange injectors (supplied direct from Siemens) - they caught a huge cold with these recon units.

apologies mate, I was getting mixed up with the 1.6 and 2.0 injectors... two sets of 2.0 injectors and seen several 1.6 and without looking at them I assumed they were bosch same as the 2.0. So the 1.6 are siemens... fair enough!
ECP supplied genuine bosch units to me literally 3 months ago for my Amarok 2.0. They could not have been more Bosch genuine reman if they had tried, down to the bosch security labels etc. I got them through my uncle's trade account... They were cheaper than most VAG 2.0 injectors for some reason, in the end I paid a shade over £600 inc VAT after the exchange. Both uncle and cousin were really surprised how cheap they were compared to any they'd bought for customer cars.
I'm not arguing with you, so no need to get your knickers in a twist... no need to PM me telling me I'm wrong either

Euros do sell Genuine Reman Bosch injectors - we don't buy thru Euros - as there are too expensive - we buy them direct from Bosch.
You gotta be careful with Euros - you ring up and order a set of Bosch reman injectors and they send you a "no name white box set" not the proper Blue box Bosch stuff.
My Knickers are not in a twist.... No offence taken!
£600 inc VAT is cheap for whole set of "proper Bosch ones". Really cheap. You did well at this price.
If I had my way thou - I would never fit an exchange injector - I will just fit new every time. The problem is the cost - customers cannot afford new parts from the dealers.
You wanna see how nozzles have come out of exchange injectors thru piston crowns in the trade. Merc dealer near us has a three year old car with a hole in the piston in his yard (not sure if it was a Merc exchange unit or a Bosch unit that failed in less than two minutes of running). Local Ford dealer has had it happen twice to them on DV10 2.0 engines.

Would agree about the longevity of the Toyota Avensis & that D4D engine is a beast with loads of power, though low down torque could be better. My Dad has been driving them for years & the hatchback has great boot space so the estate must be enormous!
But what lets them down is they're just not nice to drive.
The seats are too firm, the suspension & steering give no feedback, no feel in the brakes!

Toyota are very reliable but there is one big problem you have to drive what are normally very boring cars with an equally dull interior.

Your Toyota will be grey and dull for sure - but it will keeping working long after all the German stuff has ground to a halt.
I really rate Toyota a make and I have been in the motortrade for 36years.
Your D4D is not the most refined of engines noise wise - but I have several with starship mileage on them.

I have 2003 MkII Galaxy with the PD 1.9 115 engine in it, currently ticking along at 213k miles, still pulling my twin axle caravan around. That car looks like a bag of Jabberwocky but doesn't owe me a thing and has never broken down on me, the decaying bodywork will be the ending of it.
I have to agree but my needs are simple these days get from A to B and carry the luggage, the fun has gone out of driveing now; even here the roads are too busy and camera infested I used to love the trip to Cornwall but the M5 is dreadful now except after 10.00 pm our trip to Scotland this year was along the A9 just a narrower M25 at times and dont ask me about the M6.
My needs have changed reliability and luggage capacity is key. A long time ago I changed the water pump at the roadside in my MGB there would be no chance now.
