GT40 for me. I'll never have one but it's just perfect looking.

Many many years ago l was invited to a GT40, Bentley and Ferrari owners club day at Goodwood race circuit. Watching fairly modern cars (racing, sorry time trailing) along side supercharged Bentleys it was interesting to say the least.

One of the LeMans winning cars went through a friends shipping company recently valued at £20m accompanied by an Aston Martin valued at £25m. Mental money.

I was watching jay lenos garage where he did the piece on the magnesium bodied bugatti. The chap who looks after it said it had been shipped around the world for various car shows, and twice the airline had let the car fall off the forklift.

The guy driving one of the Bentleys had flying hat n goggles on, the young lady passenger produced a bottle and wine glass down the straight (she was proper totty as well), it was supposed to be a slowish parade lap for all the cars, one of the fastest parade laps I've ever seen at a club meet.

The company specialise in moving expensive cars and a lot of the work is around the world for the car shows. They do get damaged in transit unfortunately by accident sometimes but more often than not by those who don’t understand how to open doors etc or where to push. I get regular photos of some exotic cars from odd angles as a guessing game.

When I were a Lad, mother used to make bread pudding,fabulous hot in the winter, I used to always ask for two pieces to take to school, one for me and one for a mate, which was a lie as I used to sell it and with the monies(only the second piece) used to buy a packet of crisps..a real luxury. My other side line was collecting chesnuts down end of our road and de shell some on the way to school, 6d a bag or 3d a bag in there cases...

Oh dear. You now have me reminiscing of Nana's Tripe and Onions done in milk in the oven in the big black range for 24 hours.

Drop of Sarson's, lashing of fresh crusty bread and I was in heaven!

Oddly only Nana and I loved it, no-one else in the family would touch it. But Nana and Mum shared a love of baked herring, just the smell of which drove everyone else out of the house.

Did I ever tell of Dad having to buy olive oil from the Chemist in 1950's mining village? Course I have, many, many times! Or trying to buy tomato puree in 1970's Rotherham?

Ah, 'twere great when I were a lad.

You could actually buy one from a Ford dealer via (of course) special order. A mere £4K iirc. I doubt that got much in in the way of racey bits, though.

Chris did some striking cars, I would quite like to add one of these to the fleet,

if I did not have enough non ULEZ compliant vehicles already...

Still think the E61 is one of the few estates that looks better than the saloon it is derived from.
