I picked up quite a few lengths of 6 x 2 and 8 x 2 timber free and a part sheet of aluminium from a man who built commercial fridges and freezers, I am refitting my man cave and the ally gives the shelves a nice industrial look

I bought a mitsubishi 3.5t canter tipper just to collect stuff & do rubbish runs.

I was hoping to receive live images from the NOAA-17 weather satellite but since the guide I was following was written, it's been decommissioned.
This has me intrigued. What is it? And what’s it used for ?
I know nothing about such things but communication with a satellite has perked my interest

Well, I haven't acquired much lately ; been tight as a duck because there's talk of outsourcing what's left of 'maintenance' and I need another six years out of them.
Apart from my email and looking on air rifle and .22 forum though I am always looking at this brilliant website and hope it goes on from strength to strength.
I got asked , do I want some lathe tools ( Yes) and acquired this lot , they will be cleaned and stored correctly soon.
Also, last week got a B&D drill holder/ press for free , I need to modify the bracket if I'm to use it
I did leave some cash for some ale for the lathe tools , had to put it on the work bench because he wanted nothing in return : )

It's usually used to watch TV I think, I threw the aerial it came with out the window and picked up what I assume was Radio 1. It just allows a pc to receive RF signals from 25MHz to 1.7GHz. Some weather satellites broadcast image data at around 137MHz, you have to wait till they're overhead* and record the signal as an audio file, then theres free software to decode it into images of the planet (Or of the sun on certain satellites I believe). They've got a lot of other uses, I think the frequency range covers HAM radio if thats what you're into. My dad's got one plugged into a Raspberry Pi in his loft to track planes and upload to FlightAware.
*In low polar orbit, geostationary orbit is much further away so harder to pick up the signal, though still possible.

All of a sudden this looks like it’s quite complicated as it involves computers, downloading things and software
The only Thing i know about raspberry pi is that there’s one in the fridge awaiting to be eaten latter on

I'd say complicated but not difficult, I was following a guide that really spoonfeeds you. Unfortunately it's clearly rather outdated now. 
There's other satellites you can use but I'll need to look into it more. I can't do anything until I see my dad next week and rummage through his garage for some coax to sort out an aerial, the ones it comes with aren't suitable.

Got this little lot from the boot fair today. £23 all in.
Rothenberger torch with a full bottle of gas, pipe heater and (out of shot) one of those pads you wrap around pipes to stop you burning what's behind
4x small files in great condition and some old feeler gauges to use for shims
Tiny soldering iron
Bosch nibbler, works great despite being donkeys years old.
Also saw someone selling 3 phase motors for give-away money. Two 1.5kw and two 3kw motors all for £20 a pop. I was tempted but I don't have an application for them so I left them for someone else. If the blue ones had been 2.2kw I would have bought them both.

That bosch nibbler or shear is a great tool.
I got one on here and it's my favorite electrical tool.
