Hi, new to welding and looking for a welder for diy and automotive repair. Complete novice.
Have a mk1 mx5 and a classic mini so will need to do repairs in the future at some point so wanting to learn.
(sills, arches, small holes in bodywork etc)
I am also hoping to do a few diy projects to practise and learn such as building a wall mounted tyre rack and maybe something floor standing to mount a heavy boxing bag on.
And one last project is that I have a pit in my garage which is just a dug out rectangular hole, ideally I want to fabricate something removable to cover it that could hold up to a car wheel rolling over it and maybe even having a trolley jack lifting a car on it.
I don't know enough at the minute to know what thickness steel i would need for the above jobs but hoping some experience can chip in.
I have been looking at the Clarke 135te turbo https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/135te-turbo-mig-welder/
Does this sound suitable? Or do you have any better recommendations?
Thanks
